So, I really need to let off some steam (no pun intended) but in a constructive way.

The A Hat in Time release on GOG.com is a disgrace and a perfect example for why people chose to rather buy games over at Steam than on GOG.

1) The B-Side Soundtrack DLC which is available via Steam is not available on GOG.
2) The very cool screenshot function via the Camera Badge ingame item is broken since day one exclusively in the GOG version. Even after three frickin' patches - the new Co-Op update included- this has not been fixed. A thread on this:
https://www.gog.com/forum/a_hat_in_time/ingame_screenshot_location
3) The GOG version was promised to receive the modding tools. Even months after the stable release of the modding update tehre are still no tools available to us.
https://www.gog.com/forum/a_hat_in_time/modding_tools
4) Patches not only came with rather huge delays: the latest bug fix patch relased months before the current DLC/co-op update hasn't been released atall on GOG.

To sum it up:
A Hat in Time is a prime example how GOG customers are treated like second class citizens by some developers. I really wish that both developers and GOG would do more to get us better game support on this still very important and cool platform. Over the years I have seen several users sticking or even switching to Steam because they have noticed how terrible the post-launch support for some GOG games is. It's sad and it has to stop.

Please GOG, get in touch with Gears for Breakfast and other developers abandoning their games here and try to revive support for these games.YOu always claim you to carefully curate the games being released on here and make them shine even after launch. It's all worth nothing if stuff like this keeps happening again and again.

For anyone interested there is a very long list of cases like this one in a GOGmix:

GOG just doesn't have the customer base/market share/sway to force devs or pubs to do this.

GOG also doesn't seem to have the customer base/market share/sway to get the Mac OS version Steam has...
...and the 40% discount on the base game which the game has on Steam right now.

You won't be able to keep your customer base growing if stuff like this scares off old and new customers alike.
Can't really say anything nice about Steam. It's possibly the way they make you sign in or should I say verify account via email just about everytime you log in or the fact that they command my pc while playing one of their rented games.
Gog users feeling like this quite often now:

That's weird, didn't know you could rent their games.
I have over 3,000 Steam games but yet here I am still learning new things.

That's not weird but fact.Outside of DRM free, your Steam games can be down loaded to a disc and stored for later use without the Steam client? I think not, would be the correct answer and that's weird and the rent is correct.I'm certainly glad that you have been enlightened by this news.

GOG sends an email to devs/pubs asking for game parity when a game on Steam gets updated. They also give devs/pubs all the tools needed to effortlessly update their games and add Galaxy features. What more can they do? It's not really 100% GOG's fault some devs/pubs are lazy and incompetent.

Personally I think if a dev/pub refuses to keep their games up to date here they should be booted from the store. Fuck 'em.

I think Steam can afford to have games at huge discounts because they have so many games in general, whereas GOG has a much smaller library as well as audience. It may be about internal stuff too though.
i actually asked them (the dev) about getting the may update back in july and i was ignored.

pretty sharty if you ask me.

but i would assume it's been rolled into the dlc t update, correct?

Yep, there's only one solution here and that is update or get the fuck out. It's already bad enough and should not be getting worse unless you want outdated games in your library without knowing they may be unsupported and i'm starting to get sick of this.

Luckily i managed to refund this, Dragons Dogma and other games without support but it would be nice to avoid situations like this altogether.

It's in GOG's own damn best interest to ensure the games they sell are on parity with versions from other distributors.

What could they do? How about a contractual clause in any publishing agreement forcing the developer to maintain such parity? Shouldn't be THAT difficult to add it to current terms, and if there are any financial penalties and/or threat of being de-listed coupled with it, that should be enough to make any studio think twice before pulling this kind of bullshit.

And if somebody wants to use GOG for cash-and-run release, as you said - fuck 'em.

So... yes, I think people have a valid reason to be angry at GOG for not enforcing such things. After all, it's their store, and ultimately their responsibility.
