I had a personal catastrophe and dropped a perfectly good melon on the ground, then I was mad about it.

So I was wondering if you could recommend some games about madness and or melons?

Watermelons or Rockmelons are okay.
When the melon cracked on the ground, did it release a nameless evil, which, gibbering insanity in your ear, drove you mad? Or were you just a bit upset? if you want games about being angry, you want Postal. If you want games about madness, though, you want games based on Lovecraft or Geiger or Ellison. There have been a couple good Cthulhu games, and there's an upcoming one called That Which Sleeps.

Not much help with games about melons, but I'm pretty sure if you google that you'll find plenty of offerings, so long as Safe Search is off. ^_^
Not a PC game (barring emulation), but in Yoshi's Story (for the Nintendo 64), you need to eat 30 pieces of fruit to beat a level, and melons are worth more than any other fruit.

(Also, each level has exactly 30 melons, so try eating only melons for a challenge.)

Watermelon catapults. Plants VS Zombies you are looking for...
♫Come touch me like I'm an ordinary man, have a look in my eyes
Undernieth my skin there is a violence, it's got a gun in it's hand
Ready to make sense of anyone, anything
Black holes living in the side of your face
Razor wire spinning around you♫

Well, Sanitarium has madness and pumpkins. Will that do?

Pumpkins are acceptable. They are also very tasty.
I havn't had any letters from my friends all summer! Not one owl-delivery! Just scraps of news I picked up from the Daily Prophet! :pout:

How about Stardew Valley: it has melons and you can become madly addicted to it :P (also has hidden Cthulhu Easteregg)

I was thinking the same thing. Agenda voting is dumb, you can have a + from me.

I could, but with your history of being unable to handle the melons and mental instability, I don't think I will risk it.
Eternal Darkness is literally the best game about madness, but you would need a Gamecube (and then to find a copy of it)...

Melons, I'm not even going to go there XD
I can't think of too many fruit games. The whole madness bit I can cover in spades.

GOG
Alone in the Dark 1+2+3
Sanitarium
Amnesia 1
Postal 1
Psychonauts

Elsewhere
Condemned: Criminal Origins
Call of Cthulu Dark Corners of the Earth
The Suffering
Call of Juarez Gunslinger has some pumpkins you can shoot and the hero seems a bit mad to others at some points in the story.

+1 from me as well, mainly because I was expecting you to say Untertale again and I was glad you suggested something else. :)
