vicklemos: What about the x360 port? Heard it's the best one. Would love to try this gem once again but in hd this time ;P
Tekkaman-James: The Xbox Live Arcade port is based off of the PlayStation version of the game. It does not contain the extra content found in the Saturn version nor the modified content found in the version included with
Dracula X Chronicles on PSP.
vicklemos: And
this screenshot shows how awesome it is ;)
Tekkaman-James: Our definitions of "awesome" are clearly very different. For one, the game is not up-scaled, it is just put inside of a 16:9 border. To make matters worse, they used a filter to remove the pixelation which results in everything looking smudged and blotchy. Just look at the text in the picture you shared; if it weren't such a large point size, it would be unreadable. Just look at the word "Rest" above Richter's life count, you can't read it! I fail to understand why pixels have become such an issue with HD releases of sprite-based games. If you aren't going to redraw the sprites from scratch, a-la
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, then why bother messing with them at all?
Whoa! Didn't know that. So I've enjoyed SOTN in the most of sub-par of ways and, still, was a great experience? Damn.. I mean, whoa. I mean, damn! :P
But Tekkaman-san, just re-releasing something for modern devices is something I call truly unique. Letterbox or not, just for the fact that you can play them on the big screen through hdmi/wireless pads...
It pleases me so much, that's why I really love the classic re-releases in here.
But yeah, SF remix was a work of art. But something is better than nothing, huh?
That's why I want my emulated saturn classics / dc ones asap ;P
ps: what about the Dreamcast collection for windows, x360, ps3? Does it pleases ya?
