Hey all,
Odd question
Is it possible to block email from a specific sender, and have an error bounce back to them my email doesnt exist etc?. Someone gave my email address to someone who i didn't want to give my email address to, and as result im getting annoying emails from that person .

Suggestions?. Changing email address isn't an option as its a paid one i've had for a longtime.Prefer bounce back msg rather than i be filtered to spam...

thanks

the easiest option for you will probably have any emails from that address filtered into a folder and password protect that folder so you dont look at it without wanting to. depending on your client and email provider you may be able to have it just delete any from that address automatically, or just a straight forward block option. or if it cant auto delete / block from an specific email address, there may be a setting to delete any emails in a specific folder after a certain time (such as the one i mentioned above).
your options are largely based on if you use a client to view your emails and you emails own providers settings.
if it is really nasty you can try contacting you email provider too.
just a few thoughts.

e: additions/ clarifications.
e1: im off for the night, so if you need any specific help / thoughts ill catch up in the morning, or you can PM me if you want to keep certain details private (and maybe you should keep them private [with anyone i don't mean me!] given the issue at hand)

I know it's possible but I don't know how to do it.
My best suggestion is to send fake delivery failed emails. Send one every time they send you an email and maybe they'll stop bothering when they think you're not getting it.

What service do you use? I ask since every email service is different but if you're paying for it then your best option is to ask your provider.

In the past I've seen some over-laid services that make every new person be vetted by you before their email will be allowed to pass into your in-box.But that's a huge pain imho. If you're using outlook to download your internet mail, you can specifically block that sender - screw what they get back or not, you'll never see the emails. Most services like gmail, yahoo etc allow you to block specific addresses...yada.

So this is a difficult question to answer without knowing your particular service - but if it were me and I were paying to get email, I'd be contacting my provider asap - after all that's why you're paying them.

Unless the person on the other end knows enough about e-mail (or is a script), then that will just do the opposite - confirm that the address is valid.
If I am in the same situation, I probably use the message filter in Thunderbird to automatically delete the e-mail from that sender and at the same time automatically forward the e-mail back to him/her.

Yeah, nobody knows that kind of stuff anymore. Once I actually tricked a computer science teacher into believing that I had sent him an essay hours before the deadline by just setting back my system time. <.< (don't look at me like that - you can barely call it cheating if the cheat requires the teacher to know crap about the subject he's teaching)
If it's a paid mailbox I think your provider can help, contact support.

Why would it do that? I didn't mean send that from this address but a fake postmaster address.
It's possible, but only on server level and depending on the mail server software.
Some webmail provider have a Blacklist to block eMails by adress and a Whitelist to let eMails pass by adress pass while normally sorted out as spam. If you can access you webmail via a webpage maybe check there for filter options.
