No, the thing is that the protagonist of the games wasn't in Captain Planet, only another character by the same name. This is notable in the history of Duke Nukem because Turner unsuccessfully tried suing 3D Realms(back then Apogee) over the naming. The reference is very clear and unambigous to those of us that are long-time 3DR and Duke fans.

haydenaurion: Oh crap! I know what it is, It's Duke Nukems 1 & 2! Remember how the creators had to change one letter because Captain Planet had a villain of the same name?

From Wikipedia:

"After the game's release, Apogee became aware of a Captain Planet villain called Duke Nukem, and to avoid a lawsuit Apogee renamed the 2.0 version of its game Duke Nukum,"
Yea was my immediate guess too.

I loved watching Captain Planet when I was a kid. There was an episode where Linka (the 'wind' girl) goes to Washington DC to visit her cousin only to find him addicted to a hard designer drug. During the course of the episode he gets Linka addicted, drug induced riots break out on the streets of DC, and finally her cousin dies of an overdose on top of one of the federal buildings.

Back in 1991 at the age of 8 I was like O_O as I had never seen anything portrayed like that in a Saturday morning cartoon before. Good times.

Pheace: Am I the only person who has absolutely 0 affinity with Duke Nukem? Sometimes it seems that way :)
Nope. Personally I'd get more excited about a Wacky Wheels release. (Even more so if it was bundled with Mystic Towers and Hocus Pocus for whatever reason. ;) )

I'm sure I'm alone in this, but my favorites are Realms of Chaos, Bio-Menace, Halloween Harry, Secret Agent, Major Stryker, and Crystal Caves. Although my original introduction to Apogee was Duke Nukem and Commander Keen episode 4.
There was an episode titled "The Dream Machine" that guest starred Oren Lyons, who is not the protagonist of the game called... Dream Machine. Doesn't quite qualify as a classic game, though.

Oh, I just read the rest of the thread. Duke Nuk[eu]m seems likely.

keremix: If it is Duke Nukem, I would be much happier if the release is one of these (instead of the original two titles):

Duke Caribbean: Life's a Beach - http://www.gog.com/en/wishlist/games/duke_nukem_caribbean_lifes_a_beach
Duke It Out In D.C. - http://www.gog.com/en/wishlist/games/duke_nukem_3d_duke_it_out_in_dc
Duke: Nuclear Winter - http://www.gog.com/en/wishlist/games/duke_nuclear_winter
Nuclear Winter was absolute dog shit. It was just rehashed DN3D levels with snow.

The other two are okay, nothing special though imo.
So probably Duke Nukem 1 and 2 in a $6 pack?

That would be my guess as GOG sometimes bundles the older DOS based games that are parts of a series together.

Pheace: Captain N!

DCT: Yeah but that's Nintendo so it wont apply here, plus that show sucked so much.. Super Mario super show was better then that and not by much.
Dude, the live-action Super Mario show with Lou Albano was goddamn awesome.

Delicious. /drools
"The protagonist of this game did NOT guest star in the Captain Planet and the Planeteers cartoon back in the 90s."

It may be just me, but this was an all-too-easy guess. Duke Nukem 1 and 2 (the original Duke games before Duke 3D) have been a curious omission from GOG for quite some time now. I think that's next week's GOG classic release, for certain.
Just going to say that Duke 2 was a fantastic game. Not comfortable buying it though since apparently they ripped a bunch of graphics from other games =(

Wow, I never heard of that before. Learn something new every day, I suppose.
