Rrrrrrrnnnn! EEEEEEERRrrrrnNNNNNN!

Vrrrrooom! If you like fast cars, tight turns, and pulse-pounding races, then today's release is sure to please: Race Driver: GRID--known in the US simply as GRiD--screeches over the finish line for just $7.49 this week during its 50% off intro sale.

In GRID, you're a driver with dreams of going big: you start out driving in others' cars for money, but soon enough you'll start your own team, picking the races you want to compete in, buying the cars and equipment that you need to get the advantage over the other drivers, and traveling the world to compete. With 43 cars and 3 different regions to compete in--the US, Europe, and Japan--there's plenty to captivate adrenaline junkies. But that's not all: GRID also features an innovative "flashback" system, whereby you can rewind time a few crucial seconds to fix any sloppy driving or mistakes, avoid crashes, and generally gain the needed edge to win. With open wheel racing, demolition derbies, GT racing, there's plenty of variety in gameplay.

Real road courses such as Le Mans are in the game, as well as street circuits such as such as the Detroit and Washington D.C.. There are also a number of fictional tracks, such as street courses in San Francisco, and Milan, and Mount Haruna.

Is that enough to get your pulse pounding? Check out Race Driver: GRID this week for just $7.49--that's half off the full $14.99 price!

Tolya: Actually, the controls are perfectly rebindable - you just need to switch to the "custom" tab in the key binds screen and you can change everything fine.

I myself drive on A/Z </> and S/X for gears, did that since Network Q Rac Rally... anybody remembers this?
Glad to hear other people still play racers with only keyboard.

I can't figure how people do that. I guess I've been using gamepads (and wheels) for so long now that I never got used to it.
Is this going to be pulled eventually? Like the other racing games from codemasters? I hope not.
A nice new release and apparently TinyE has been deported to Guam. Good news all around!

tinyE: Someone want to gift me a new computer so I can run this? :P
I actually just gave away a computer that was a hair above the minimum specs to run this. I think shipping would have made it not worth it though.

Sorry to ruin a great joke but I don't think an American can be deported to Guam, it's a U.S. territory. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't even need a passport to go there ala Puerto Rico or Los Angeles.

As someone who frequents LA during the summers, I lol'd.
Well cool, something else to use my Logitech G27 with. A good day.
I made a video of this game without the yellow piss filter, it looks much better:

The link to the mod that removes it is in the description, for anyone interested.

Yes, the game looks significantly better without the filter.
If you're not interested in the other changes the mod makes, like me, just copy the tracks folder from the mod in the link provided in the youtube video.

Thanks Paul!
Cool. This is a decent arcade racer. I never got hooked on it as at the time I'm was obsessed with the hardcore driving sims (netkar Pro, Live for Speed, etc...).

Maybe I'll give it another go.

Actually my first Rally was Lombart Rac Rally on the Atari ST in 86 or 87 IIRC.
GOG.com Downloader gets stuck almost at the end of the downloading - it says 5,73 GB of 5,73 GB but won't move that extra tiny bit to finish... not even hitting Pause All and then Resume All helps...

I'm afraid to log out and in again because I don't want to start the download again, it took really long :(

anyone else have this?

(PS: yes, I have enough space on the disc this downloads to, and it is NTFS)

EDIT: alright, here goes nothing... logging out!
EDIT2: not actually, the downloader told me he'd remove the items if I logged out, so instead I tried to unzip the zip file... it ended without errors, now I'll try to install the game

EDIT3: ok, the game seems to work, that's good :) but when it starts, ACCEPT THE OFFERED RESOLUTION! I declined (as it was only 13xx x 7xx or something, probably the maximum this game offers), the game switched to 800x600 and kept freezing every couple of seconds as there's no FPS limit, the game generated about 500 FPS and my card kept restarting :)

I played it at 1920 x 1200 just fine. I think it goes by your native resolution or something because I didn't have to change the resolution or anything :D.
I'm not into racing games, but I absolutely loved Driver: San Francisco. Since then I've been looking for another one I might like but I don't know what to try. I hear by the genre's standards D:SF was very arcadey, so maybe that's it.

Is there a racing game fan here that can recommend me either this or another game that might do the trick?
