Rrrrrrrnnnn! EEEEEEERRrrrrnNNNNNN!

Vrrrrooom! If you like fast cars, tight turns, and pulse-pounding races, then today's release is sure to please: Race Driver: GRID--known in the US simply as GRiD--screeches over the finish line for just $7.49 this week during its 50% off intro sale.

In GRID, you're a driver with dreams of going big: you start out driving in others' cars for money, but soon enough you'll start your own team, picking the races you want to compete in, buying the cars and equipment that you need to get the advantage over the other drivers, and traveling the world to compete. With 43 cars and 3 different regions to compete in--the US, Europe, and Japan--there's plenty to captivate adrenaline junkies. But that's not all: GRID also features an innovative "flashback" system, whereby you can rewind time a few crucial seconds to fix any sloppy driving or mistakes, avoid crashes, and generally gain the needed edge to win. With open wheel racing, demolition derbies, GT racing, there's plenty of variety in gameplay.

Real road courses such as Le Mans are in the game, as well as street circuits such as such as the Detroit and Washington D.C.. There are also a number of fictional tracks, such as street courses in San Francisco,and Milan, and Mount Haruna.

Is that enough to get your pulse pounding? Check out Race Driver: GRID this week for just $7.49--that's half off the full $14.99 price!

JudasIscariot: Can you tell me what kind options you get in AMD's control panel for your video card? I don't have that card hence the reason I ask :D. Perhaps you can force the executable file to be run at native resolution?
there are many but none that would allow forcing a resolution in an application...
but I think this wouldn't solve the issue - on your screenshot there's even higher multisampling option allowed, and in my game it isn't...

maybe it's because of Win 7 x Win XP? I've came across several games now (well, World of Tanks and The Secret World) that only allow higher graphical settings if you use 64bit system... not resolutions though, only options like texture quality and such.
First Overlord: Raising Hell, and now GRID. Both great releases, and I purchased both the here on the days they were released. Now I eagerly await Overlord 2 and FUEL.

I've been wanting to play the mod FUEL: REFUELED, but I just haven't been able to convince myself to install my retail copy due to GFWL and SecuROM. Yes, I own a retail game that I will not actually install. :(

So please GOG, get us FUEL.

This is an AWESOME RELEASE!!!!
Good racing games are so rare these days, and DRM-free? Inconceivable!
G.O.G., I want to thank you for bringing one of the best modern racing games to the market. I want more new games with rich graphics in my G.O.G. library, thank you so very much!

JudasIscariot: Whaaaaaat?

See screenshot please :D

Kunovski: whaaaaaat?

this is the highest setting I can set in the game...

(my specifications - iCore i5 2500K, AMD HD6950, WinXP)
Got this from the Steam forum, just browse to wherever the game directory is installed at instead of the Steam one. I had to use this method to change my resolution to 1920x1200.. by default the max res it let me use was 800x600 lmao.. Oh, and set "1280" to whatever max width you want to use, doesn't have to be 1680.

1) Look for your hardware_settings_restrictions.xml file in your 'system' folder (default: C:\Steam\steamapps\common\grid\system\), and make a backup of it first.

2) Then go ahead and open the file with Notepad. Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see these lines:

<data>
<res mem="270" maxWidth="1280" />
</data>

I think Codemasters have limited the resolutions to anyone with less than 270Mb of VRam to 1280 pixels horizontally. All you have to do is change it to:

<data>
<res mem="270" maxWidth="1680" />
</data>

Dirt 2 next please :)
Perfect mix of arcade and simulation and the interior camera is sweet. Actually all of it looks pretty sweet despite its (not that old but still) age. Of course I'd only really recommend it if you have something that resembles a racing wheel, I just don't think such games are fun with analog sticks or similar. I played it using my iPad as a racing wheel for my PC using the MungoGamer app (it works great though it's meant for iPhones rather than iPads, but for some reason it's been taken down from the App Store, perhaps you can find a decent alternative though, there were some bad ones too however so be careful and don't buy blindly) and it was good, a real racing wheel would make it amazing.

Edit: oh yeah, the game requirements are relatively low too. On my old PC which I recently upgraded from (it was an E8500 CPU and GTX285 GPU with 4GB DDR2) the game was easy to max and maintain mostly 60fps in most tracks, with AA. So yeah, your PC not being the greatest doesn't mean you can't enjoy this (as long as you don't play it on something that can barely run some of the really old classics).

Shame the sequel does stupid things like get rid of the interior camera.

Also, I liked this game way more than other modern arcade racers like FUEL, DiRT 1, 2, 3, Nail'd, NFS and so on. It's just great.

I wonder if GOG would be interested in nudging Codemasters into releasing the DLC packs onto PC. The last patch to Grid for PC added support for them.

No .ini files or .cfg files you can modify in the game folder to change the game resolution? I remember playing this on WinXP, but I can't remember if I had any problems with it. Maybe it is patch related? I remember there was a v1.3 patch available? Which one is the GOG version running... If not these, then ask in the forums somebody else must have purchased it.

thank you very much for the solution, it works! even the slightly lower resolutions got unlocked :) I still can't set as high multisampling as JudasIscariot but I guess it doesn't matter that much...

funny thing is, my graphics card has 2048 MB RAM :)
