Rrrrrrrnnnn! EEEEEEERRrrrrnNNNNNN!

Vrrrrooom! If you like fast cars, tight turns, and pulse-pounding races, then today's release is sure to please: Race Driver: GRID--known in the US simply as GRiD--screeches over the finish line for just $7.49 this week during its 50% off intro sale.

In GRID, you're a driver with dreams of going big: you start out driving in others' cars for money, but soon enough you'll start your own team, picking the races you want to compete in, buying the cars and equipment that you need to get the advantage over the other drivers, and traveling the world to compete. With 43 cars and 3 different regions to compete in--the US, Europe, and Japan--there's plenty to captivate adrenaline junkies. But that's not all: GRID also features an innovative "flashback" system, whereby you can rewind time a few crucial seconds to fix any sloppy driving or mistakes, avoid crashes, and generally gain the needed edge to win. With open wheel racing, demolition derbies, GT racing, there's plenty of variety in gameplay.

Real road courses such as Le Mans are in the game, as well as street circuits such as such as the Detroit and Washington D.C.. There are also a number of fictional tracks, such as street courses in San Francisco, and Milan, and Mount Haruna.

Is that enough to get your pulse pounding? Check out Race Driver: GRID this week for just $7.49--that's half off the full $14.99 price!

By the way: someone tell VideoNinja that his Vine video looks cool. He's worried. :P

I keep expecting Zoidberg to pop up in that one somewhere :D

JMich: So, how's the damage engine in the game? I don't expect Carmageddon level destruction, but is there visual damage to the cars? And does that damage also effect performance? Can a crash result in your car leaking oil, or the brakes failing?

I will be picking it up either way, just curious.
It looks all kind of debris-tastic.

Fred_DM: no, this the Codemasters racing game that many consider the best title of its kind in recent memory. also, a tutorial for a racing game? why?

Zoidberg: Nice way of not answering to the guy's question.

"Non reassignable" controls? As in "being forced to use a qwerty keyboard" is a no-no for me :D
You can also use an Xbox 360 controller :D

grynn: MP is still working for GRID?
Only over LAN via Hamachi and the like because the official servers are down :(
Actually, the controls are perfectly rebindable - you just need to switch to the "custom" tab in the key binds screen and you can change everything fine.

I myself drive on A/Z </> and S/X for gears, did that since Network Q Rac Rally... anybody remembers this?

Kunovski: GOG.com Downloader gets stuck almost at the end of the downloading - it says 5,73 GB of 5,73 GB but won't move that extra tiny bit to finish... not even hitting Pause All and then Resume All helps...

I'm afraid to log out and in again because I don't want to start the download again, it took really long :(

anyone else have this?

(PS: yes, I have enough space on the disc this downloads to, and it is NTFS)

EDIT: alright, here goes nothing... logging out!
EDIT2: not actually, the downloader told me he'd remove the items if I logged out, so instead I tried to unzip the zip file... it ended without errors, now I'll try to install the game

EDIT3: ok, the game seems to work, that's good :) but when it starts, ACCEPT THE OFFERED RESOLUTION! I declined (as it was only 13xx x 7xx or something, probably the maximum this game offers), the game switched to 800x600 and kept freezing every couple of seconds as there's no FPS limit, the game generated about 500 FPS and my card kept restarting :)
I played it at 1920 x 1200 just fine. I think it goes by your native resolution or something because I didn't have to change the resolution or anything :D.

Kunovski: strange, as my native resolution is 1920 x 1080... can't find an option to change it... maybe somewhere outside the game?
Whaaaaaat?

See screenshot please :D

Hillsy_: Maybe the widescreen format is limiting you? Is there an option for 16:9 or 16:10 which gives you acess to higher resolutions?
avatar
Kunovski: yes, I've tried that, it doesn't make other resolutions available :(
Here's something to try although I can't guarantee it will work:

If you are using an HDMI connection to your monitor try using the DVI one instead.

Kunovski: sadly, I am using DVI at the moment... hmm, maybe I should ask the support or something. didn't anybody else experience this? that when you start the game for the first time, it asks you if you want to use 1280x768 (or something like that)?
EDIT: and then you can only set very low resolutions?
Can you tell me what kind options you get in AMD's control panel for your video card? I don't have that card hence the reason I ask :D. Perhaps you can force the executable file to be run at native resolution?
