When your toon wears a complete set of Armor there is a supposed bonus -- but I'm not sure what it is for the various sets.

I had the Griffin set and it seemed like my toon got killed a lot.

Then I found equipment items that were better than the Griffin Set items but I don't know what is better --- stay with the set or switch individual items of the set out when you encounter a better item.

I would lose the benefit of wearing a set but would have higher points on individual items and could possible attach more runes etc. etc.

Which is better --- keep the set intact until you get a more powerful set or break the set and use higher rated items?

I stuck with the gryphon armour throughout the game, though I did switch up swords to better ones as I found them.

toon
Ew, MMO-speak. Kill it with fire!

I'd imagine the better stats of newer items outweigh any bonus (I never completed an armor set so I don't know if there's really a bonus), though that might not be true if you invest points into the skills that give you bonuses when you're wearing all light, medium, or heavy items. The item screen should show your damage and armor and stuff so that you can check which is better in each situation, though.

But seriously. His name is Geralt.
Toon is a loof

Source? I don't believe this is true in Witcher 3.

There are no... zero... bonuses for item sets in The Witcher 3.

Well I get that reference but in gaming terms? Is this one of those fat basement dwelling MMO things?

RPG terms, I would say. To distinguish pixels on the screen from 'real' involvement. But that's a guess.

How about "Geralt"? I mean, it is his name and all.
