Some games require middleware such as DOSBOX or WINE to play. Regardless of whether these things are packaged with the game, add them to the sales pages for each game requiring them.

This is what annoyed me the most about GOG, i bought games labeled as "Windows/Linux/Mac".. only to find that instead of using a custom launcher (like a slim selection of games) they use emulation (and for me DosBox runs like a fat kid after ice-cream (i mean with all the damn ripples) which totally ruins the games), if i was told before-hand i would of avoided them.

It worth to note there's another better voted similar (almost identical wish mentioning ScummVM, but not WINE). As of 2016-12-22 that wish has 7100+ votes.

I believe that making DOS or DOSBox (and maybe Wine) its own supported platform (with installers that run in DOS) would also fulfill this wish. Giving the users freedom to install the game, without running Windows, on their own FreeDOS or shared DOSBox setup.
