Story:‘Devotion’ is a first-person atmospheric horror game set in the 1980s Taiwan.
The story centers around a seemingly ordinary family of three that lived in an old apartment complex. Explore the nostalgic house in the 80s where religion plays a significant role in their daily life. When one day the same house that once filled with joy and love had turned into a hell-like nightmare, and by venturing in the haunted and confined space, each puzzle leads you closer to the mysteries nested deep inside.Show more
Devotion is thankfully purchasable on Red Candle's website after being unavailable for a while, but it deserves a place on the major storefronts again. It's a beautifully crafted horror story and its removal was really unfortunate, so efforts to preserve it further would be great to see.
Simply put, every day this game remains legally unobtainable, free speech remains legally unobtainable. This game means a lot to me as the only truely scary horror game I haven't actually been able to play for myself and I think now more than ever it is important to remind ourselves why we fight for the things we want in the world.
Although this game can be purchased from Red Candle's own site, this beautiful horror game deserves to be more readily available and preserved. Please consider helping to boost this with your vote.
I haven't bought anything from GOG since they lied to us about this. But I did buy Devotion from Red Candle's site. The game is brilliant, really creepy and disturbing (completed it twice now) with excellent sound design.
this is a great horror game that speaks important truths to power, and i am at a loss as to what "gamers" could have possibly messaged gog so upset about it's inclusion as to necessitate removal. this is a masterwork of political commentary on topical issues that are only worsening in the world currently.
A haunting story that stays with you long after the credits roll. Red Candle did a great job blending the dark sides of Asian culture into a horror narrative. Many of the moments hit too close to home, but it was impactful to see the developers understood the subject matter so well and didn't make it gimicky. There's not a lot of replayability to it, but I think it's still a story that everyone should experience.
found this game on Steam and before i could buy it steam removed it because China can't take a joke. i hate when politics kill a game. luckily i found it on the developers website. its a great game, one of my favorites.
Honestly so effing sick of GOG's "curated" game selection. At this point, until they allow Devotion, and many other games they have rejected, to be added to their site, I am probably not buying from here anymore.
It's absurd that such a good story was censored over nonsense, it deserves to be more broadly available than just the developer's website. It has a great story that deserves to be more accessible.
