The very first game that started a legend that would be known as Duke Nukem. Sure Duke 3D was a game changer that made the character recognizable by many, but the first Duke Nukem game is just as important since it is part of the main series. Duke shows off his one-man army capabilities for the first time against the evil Dr. Proton and his techbot army in this simple easy-to-play 2D side-scroller shooter. I especially found it hilarious how Proton would communicate with Duke via TV screens throughout the game. The levels allow for full exploration to find keys, powerups, and other secrets that can rack up big points for the high score like collecting the red balloons. Duke Nukem's past adventures used to be on GOG before Gearbox acquired the full IP and they have not returned ever since. His legacy deserves to be forever preserved for future generations of gamers to enjoy and learn about the history why Duke was, and always will be a true king in gaming.
