One of the first games I ever played, and a damn good one. By todays standards it wouldn't be all that, but the atmosphere of old sim games is delicious and Heavy Gear 1 is no exception. Built off the foundation of Activisions' Mechwarrior 2 engine, this game has a lot of its own flair and flavour to differentiate it. FMV cutscenes for plot and some pretty decent voice acting compared to today's efforts. With some tweaking of controls this one is a must-play for mech sim enthusiasts. This should be on GOG as the community repacks, while awesome (thanks mr wholesome) aren't the same as a re-release for modern systems. Please Mr GOG Santa, make this happen!

This was a great counter-point to the combat in other popular mech games of the time like Mechwarrior 2 and Earthsiege. Gears (the mechs in this game line) are much smaller, and can move more quickly due to a wheeled secondary movement system. The game featured live-action cut scenes that focused on the North vs. South factions of Terra Nova, as well as a challenging campaign. This game, to my memory, stayed pretty close to the setting established by the publisher of the tabletop game, Dream Pod 9. Dream Pod 9, by the way, almost lost the license to their own game due to the predatory wording of the deal they had with Activision.

Found it unexpectedly at a Sam's Club back in the 90s and was immediately hooked. It was my favorite game at the time and still one of my top games. I'd also like to see its sequel added as well. Give it the Dino Crisis 1+2 treatment and give us a Heavy Gear 1+2 release please!
Love this mech game. Much like mechwarrior and battletech. Build your own mechs. Customize load outs and missions are great challenges. Squad of gears. I played both 1 and 2. Both titles are great mech games, I have been looking for both 1 and 2.
This was a precious birthday gift. My friends and I played this for hours every day. It would be interesting to play a deep and intricate mech game with an adult brain. Childhood was basically build a slow artillery platform and fire all as soon as I saw something.

Found this in a bargain bin in a Co-Op supermarket clearance, England 1999. This game started what would become a life long love-affair with Mecha, and spoiled me to expect "real" well thought out robots ever more, sadly slightly poisoning me against Gundam forevermore. If it's done something Similar to you I implore you to check out "VOTOMs", apparently that show inspired the Canadian devs of this game. The SIM nature of this first game was always preferable to me over the action nature of the second, but both are wonderful. Despite STILL owning this game physically, it is incredibly difficult to get running properly on modern hardware and has some nasty game crash bugs in the campaign even on original hardware (so I never got to COMPLETE the campaign, instead putting hundreds of hours into the "freeplay" mode playing as the "badguys") Therefore a restoration of it from the GOG team would certainly make my decade!! I'd love to attempt the PVP online mode, which was incredible difficult to set up back on dial-up.
My first computer was a Compaq Presario CDS 526 AIO Windows 3.1... my first pc love lol... it was good, but it didn't run all the amazing games that came out at the time. After I managed to build a better one, one of the games I loved the most was Heavy Gear. Even though I didn't understand English at all, the game was intuitive for me, and I had countless hours of joy. Then Heavy Gear 2 was released, and later ones in Brazilian Portuguese... so my love for both games lasts to this day. Please put Heavy Gear 1 and 2 on GOG! A legion of fans like me will be eternally grateful =)

Great game, with outstanding music - still have original cd box, but game not working. I think there will be one problem on digital build - game usues cd audio track for music.
Sadly these Games are stuck on win98 :( !!! These SOOOO need sequels! The game is basicly MS Gundam In Robot-Sim! No other First Person Robot game have I ever played that was more like Gundam or Robot Mecha Super Robot Battle Sim Games. These would KILL atm If brought in similar style to "Armored Core rubicon"but in a ARMA like FPS SIM Robot game.. AC:R newf found Success shows how much Demand for more Mecha games.
Those games also need your vote!

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
Enemy Territory: Quake WarsEnemy Territory: Quake Wars is a first-person shooter video game developed by Splash Damage and published by Activision for Microsoft Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The prequel to Quake II, Quake Wars is set in the same science fiction universe as Quake II and Quake 4, with a minimal back-story serving as a prequel to Quake II. It is the second multiplayer-focused game in the Quake series after Quake III Arena. Quake Wars features similar gameplay to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, but with the addition of controllable vehicles and aircraft as well as multiple AI deployables, asymmetric teams, much larger maps and the option of computer-controlled bot opponents. Unlike the previous Enemy Territory games, Quake Wars is a commercial release rather than a free download. Enemy Territory: Quake Wars received mostly positive reviews upon release, although it received some criticism on consoles.

Shin Megami Tensei II
Shin Megami Tensei IIFifty years have passed since the hero of Shin Megami Tensei followed the neutral path, defeated the leaders of Law and Chaos, and founded a state where followers of both ideologies could live freely. But his reign of freedom doesn't last long. The Messian faith gains power, expanding the Cathedral into a new enclosed environment named Tokyo Millennium. The Gaians rise up, but their rebellion is repressed by the Messians' elite warrior class, the Temple Knights. People flock into the encapsulated city, submitting themselves to the strict hierarchy imposed by the Messian Center, where only the privileged living in the Center district are safe from demonic assaults. A few years later, a retired arena fighter Okamoto rescues a man named Hawk, who was fighting for his life against a demon. He trains him to fight in the arena of the Valhalla district, hoping that he would win the tournament, which will grant them both citizenship in the Center district. When Hawk succeeds, he is brought before a Messian bishop, and learns the shocking truth about his own origins and the role he is supposed to play in the grand scheme of events. A new battle for a better future begins. Shin Megami Tensei II retains all the gameplay features of the previous game. The player is able to summon demons, fuse them to create more powerful ones, make them participate in battles, talk to random enemies and receive information from them, etc. The combat is turn-based, and the player explores the complex, maze-like dungeons from a first-person perspective view. Like in the first game, the Law, Chaos, and Neutral alignments play an important role: during the course of the game, the player will have to make choices that influence the alignment of the protagonist, steering the storyline into different directions. New features include a "magic succession" system, which allows demons to carry over their original magic spells when they are fused into new ones, a few additional spells and abilities, and the possibility to play at the casino and win unique items.
