A childhood favorite, played it for hours as a kid. Sure, it's a shorter title as far as Playstation RPGs go, but it's a magical time. The fusion system is probably why I spent so much time on it, and is the highlight. Tameable monsters (called "minions") actually have their model and animations altered depending on what other monster you fuse with them - you can even re-fuse the hybrids with other hybrids! There's a touching story about love, duty and sacrifice. The unique tribal setting and music are incredibly memorable. The art direction of the game being headed by Studio Ghibli alum Katsuya Kondō make it a beautiful experience. It's well worth preserving for future generations just because of how truly unique a monster-battler it is.

The animated sequences between each new stage alone makes this game memorable. And I loved fusing the monsters I captured. No game was the same. I loved it as a teenager.

Even after all these years I still play this game from time to time on my childhood PS1. This is until this day the best fusion System a Game ever had. Better than any Pokemon or Shin Megami Tensei game, since it really morphes the two monsters together. The Graphics in Studio Ghibli Style was also amazing. (It also had great German Dubbing) I wish that this game would make it on GOG.

The epitome of my childhood, my first JRPG ever. Fully voiced dialogue, gameplay with an interesting mechanic that lets you mix the monsters you catch to mix looks and abilities if done properly. Pretty good story too. I paid $80 for a disc recently, once I finally found it. It was worth the nostalgia trip though. This game deserves recognition........but I'll keep dreaming.

I would love to be able to purchase this on here. I miss this wonderful game and the many hours of play that it gave me. I have been looking for this game on disk again so i could replay it. I love the fact that you could combine your monsters to make better and stronger creatures. It has wonderful battle sequences and a wonderful story line.
I remember playing this on a Demo Disk With Playstation magazine i replayed the Demo over and over This was Adult Pokemon with Proper Fusion was WAY ahead of its Time also animated by Ghibli This Game was so good
This was a game I originally didn't understand or like. Didn't understand that there was such a thing as unwinnable boss fights as a kid. But one day I just decided to keep playing and holy crap did I get lost just catching everything and merging them together. It still blows my mind that there isn't a game that does merging the way this one did, I was very disappointed in its sequel not using the same merge mechanic. I switched between this and FFVII so often as a kid and still play it today
Those games also need your vote!

Shangrlia
ShangrliaShangrlia is a turn-based tactical game. The ten female commanders reside in the castle and can be approached in any order. Each of them transfers the player to a different location (alternating between urban, dungeon-like, and rural areas) where a tactical battle takes place. Every commander is responsible for a unit type in the army. These types include Lancers, Fighters, Swordsmen, Cannoneers, Horsemen, Archers, Mages, Ninjas, Dragon Riders, and Birds. Enemy forces possess the same unit types. Each type has advantages and disadvantages in terms of power, mobility, range, etc. The goal is to select and position units on the battle field, taking the conditions of the terrain, number of enemies, distance, etc. into consideration. Defending own castle and capturing that of the enemy is the top priority. The battles then proceed in a turn-based fashion. Some unit types can attack from a distance, while others are restricted to fighting on adjacent squares. Battles are displayed as animated sequences on a separate screen, their outcome calculated according to the unit's properties and parameters. After each round of victory, the female general removes an item of her clothing. The final result for each general is an erotic picture with partial nudity and implicit sexual scene, but no explicit images.

Avalon Code
Avalon CodeAvalon Code plot, as well as the gameplay, revolves around the Book of Prophecy situated on the touch-sensitive lower screen of the Nintendo DS. In order to record a person, monster, plant, or weapon in its pages, the player performs a “Code Scan”, which is done by striking the target to be recorded with the Book itself (mapped to the B button at all times). The story centers on a young peasant who has been plagued with prophetic nightmares for weeks prior to the beginning of the story. His or her latest dream, shown in the opening cinematic, features a mysterious voice which reveals not only that the protagonist's world has undergone countless reincarnations in the past and is fated to continue the cycle of correction, destruction, and rebirth until “true enlightenment” is achieved, but also that the main character him- or herself has been tasked by the Powers-That-Be to deem the people, places, and things of the current world worthy (or unworthy) of being carried over into the next after the fiery purge.
