The Myth series is one of the few that I still keep returning to every few years to enjoy again, and lament that it somehow did not lead to a new sub-genre of RTS, or at least a long-running series of games. After playing Warcraft and Command & Conquer as 2D, sprite-based, grid-based games, Myth was absolutely mind-blowing for its dedication to take away all the abstraction of RTS and drop you right in the middle of bloody, brutal, messy, chaotic battle. Fully simulated physics of a 3D engine meant archers got more range when placed atop hills, and bombs and blood would roll down hills. Simulated weather meant wind blew projectiles off course, and rain and water extinguished flames. You can't build more units during a battle, so losses were hard-felt. Scrambling to give orders to retreat or intercept flanking units added to the feeling of a tense, high-stakes, chaotic battlefield. Every skirmish ends in a mess of blood, severed limbs, and broken shields and arrows littering the ground. The gameplay combined with the excellent story, narration, music, art style, and overall tone added up to a uniquely grounded, realistic-feeling fantasy world. Imagine going from that back to simple, abstract RTS games like Warcraft! Myth felt like a glimpse of the future of RTS. It seemed inevitable that more realistic and complex simulations that impact your tactics would be the direction of the RTS genre. To this day, it is still the most viscerally satisfying RTS I've played: Every impact felt brutal and gory. And it had full campaign co-op! An under-appreciated, highly-ambitious, innovative, polished, and incredibly fun game (although often brutally difficult in the campaign - play on easy!). The Myth series deserves to live forever: The Total Codex edition, including all three main games with the expansion Chimera and all the extra maps and plugins bundled in.

These games are legendary and severely underrated. One of those series that do not deserve to be lost. It boasts a great campaign with some brutal, difficult moments. One of the best soundtracks, ever. I remember renaming my soldiers as my friends and seeing how long I could keep them alive (not very long). I would love to see them back!

Bungie's unique real time tactics game broke the mold. Its humorous gritty dark fantasy setting, chilling story, unendingly fun multiplayer, and amazing mod community culminated in a classic that deserved to be the foundation for a new gaming genre.

This was the first game I ever downloaded a demo for. It was a short demo and took more than a day to download. This was when modems made all kinds of noises when you got on. Also, the first game I ever played against someone else online. Let's bring it back!

This was the first online game I had ever played, on my first computer, back when even demos had multiplayer! This game was also my introduction into online communities - which even here 25+ years later is still amazingly alive through custom metaservers and discord. So many great memories, there isn't another RTS like this. It doesn't deserve to be lost to time and I wish it were on here!

Świetna gra z początków grania na własnym PC, Pamiętam recenzję w CD-A, solucję w AP a sama gra niszczyła grafiką w tamtym okresie.

There's nothing quite like Myth in the modern market, it has its niche and executes it great. Both the dark fantasy campaign story and the point-buy system utilizing straight to action multiplayer are just fantastic. It is also not easily avaiable anywhere, I do have my old cd but it is kinda pain having to jump through hoops to make it work on my current system. I would love to have it through GoG so I can easily access it whenever I feel like replaying the story or to play around with some friends. Edit: To the fans of the Series, community recently released a fan Remaster of the game. I hope if Myth does get added to GOG they will have a simplified installation option for it too. It's not too hard to do, but being able to skip the short process would be nice.

Easily one of my top 10 all time games. I purchased this game when it first came out as it had 3d FX support. It looked amazing back then. The 3d maps with the 2d characters was fantastic. The blood and guts would stay on the ground for the entire time when most games would fade them away after a few seconds. The physics of the projectiles was also amazing. Multiplayer was also fantastic with FPS type matches like death match, team death match, CTF, King of the hill but as a RTS was brilliant. My friends and I would race home after school to play multiplayer. Such great fun memories.

This was the game that made me fall in love with RTS games. I would spend hours trying to get perfect scores on missions. It would be amazing to see this game playable on modern PCs without several mods.

I discovered this game by chance when I was in high school in the late 90's. What followed was a year-long obsession that few other games can match to this day. I still own the physical CD-ROM discs but I would gladly purchase the game again if it were offered on GOG!
Those games also need your vote!

Xenogears
XenogearsXenogears follows protagonist Fei Fong Wong and several others as they journey to uncover the truth behind mysterious, cabalistic entities operating in their world. The principles and philosophies of Friedrich Nietzsche, Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung influence the plot, character design, and world of Xenogears. Additionally, the symbols, theological concepts, and devotional practices of several world religions are represented in fictionalized forms in the game. Major psychological themes are the nature of identity and human memory, particularly as these relate to the phenomenon of dissociative identity disorder. The relationship between humanity and machines is central to the game's plot, as indicated by the presence of giant robots dubbed "gears," which almost each playable character can control.

Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht
Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur MachtXenosaga: Episode I - Der Wille zur Macht, the first chapter of a trilogy, is a Japanese-style sci-fi role-playing game, sharing many common themes and gameplay elements with Xenogears. The battle system is not unlike the one used in Xenogears (combo attacks, AP and EP gauges, etc.), but random encounters are eliminated. Instead, the enemies are now visible and battles can be avoided. During combat the few upcoming ally and enemy turns are shown onscreen, allowing the player to make strategic decisions based on who will act next. A rolling slot moves with each turn as well, conferring a bonus such as added damage or bonus XP for any action on that turn. If the enemy would be in position to take an advantage then the player can expend a character's "boost" gauge to cut in and act next, although enemies can boost as well, and enemy boosts always over-ride player boosts. Each character has a unique tree of Ether spells they can learn by spending Ether points earned in battle, with lower spells requiring spells above them to be purchased first. After a spell is purchased, so long is it does not require a unique talent of that character, the spell can also be purchased and learned by any other character that can afford double its normal cost. The Anti-Gnosis Weapon Systems can be equipped with different weapons and accessories and can be used in combat provided that a character has enough AP on that turn to board their AGWS.

The series has become a global phenomenon, with over 27 million copies sold worldwide. Alone and surrounded by the enemy, even a special forces agent will find it tough to come out alive. But that is the secret behind the series' popularity-the cerebral challenge of figuring out how to avoid combat, and the thrill of sneaking through enemy territory undetected. The MGS series is also known for its storyline, which blends seamlessly with the gameplay. These elements have made MGS what it is today: a mature work of entertainment that transcends national borders and the confines of video games, and one of the leading products of the Japanese content business.

Grandia II
Grandia IIGrandia 2 is a 3D RPG, viewed from a top-down perspective for most of the game and a 3rd person view during battle. Controlling Ryudo, the player will explore various locations, locating townspeople and objects within an area to interact with. Towns and dungeons are displayed in the same manner, though dungeons tend to be mazes filled with monsters and towns tend to be friendly areas filled instead with conversation and shops. Any monsters present in these areas will be shown walking around. Walking over to and touching the monster in any way will activate a battle. If the monster notices the player approaching it is considered a normal battle, if Ryudo is able to approach undetected the player's party will gain the initiative in battle, if any party member besides Ryudo is approached by the enemy then the party loses initiative.
