by Microsoft Game Studios, Majesco Entertainment
Genres:Adventure, Strategy, Card & Board Game
Themes:Action, Science fiction
Game modes:Single player, Multiplayer
Story:Phantom Dust is a video game for the Xbox console. It was developed by Microsoft Game Studios, produced and directed by Yukio Futatsugi, director of the critically acclaimed Panzer Dragoon for Sega Saturn. It was licensed for release in the U.S. by Majesco. Phantom Dust is a pseudo-card-based action/strategy game in which the player collects skills (over 300 total) and takes missions to attempt to discover why Earth is in the condition it is. Players construct "arsenals" (similar to decks of cards) from their acquired skills and then use them to battle against other players. The game incorporates strategy and action elements in to a game that requires both mental and reflexive skill. The game remains a cult hit. The Xbox Live servers no longer support Online Multiplayer for Phantom Dust, or any other Xbox Original game.Show more

I could write a dissertation on why this game needs preservation, but I will leave it at this: It is wholly unique and, for that, it deserves to survive. We can't let creativity die, and younger generations need to know what games can be so that the medium has a hopeful future.

This was the very first game I played when I got the original Xbox One years ago. It was so unique and fresh to me and no other game has replicated their formula in years. This is truly a one of a kind that needs to be preserved forever!
Deck building meets arena fighter strikes an incredible balance of strategy and skill to create incredible moment to moment gamplay. The hidden gem of the hidden gems.

This game was a hidden gem imo. It even got me into magic the gathering later on. The mechanics and plot are core memories that I'll never lose. And I hope to spread the experience to as many gamers as possible.

Phantom Dust deserves to be preserved solely for the fact that its an amazing game with revolutionary systems and everyone should experience it. With enough feedback maybe it can make a comeback. Its also one of the first games i played multiplayer with on the OG Xbox.

I've played this game for 20 years now, and it's still the best multiplayer game I've ever played, and there's no other game like it-it's a genre all of its own. There's an active community to this day with tournaments, events, and lots of camaraderie.

Absolutely unique gameplay that perfectly combines card games with arena fighting, Engaging and creative story that's mysterious, existential, and surprisingly touching Incredibly distinct and grungy art direction complimented by one of the most abstract yet appropriate soundtracks i've heard in games Definitely deserves preservation and a wider audience, one of a kind!

This game has a crazy passionate community still today, nearly 20 years past the release date in North America. After two decades, I still have yet to see another game made like it. It is a 3D, third-person, real-time, Arena fighter, where your 'moves' or 'skills' are determined by a pre-built deck of cards. You interact with this deck in while on the battlefield, 'drawing' cards from your deck occurs by walking to a physical starting location, where your skills spawn as glowing floating orbs of dust. If you are at all interested in card games, arena fighting games, DBZ-style combat, or old and unique games in general, it's a must play.

This game was my childhood. There were lots of deck-building games out there like Culdcept Saga, but Phantom Dust was truly something special. It was atmospheric and could easily be just as fast-paced as it was thoughtful and deliberate. It was tragic that a sequel was planned early in the newest generation of consoles but ended up being dropped. Microsoft doesn't care about this gem of a game, but it absolutely deserves to be preserved. For all its weirdness, for all its experimentation, and for everyone that wants to take a look at what games from a generation that didn't so heavily follow the trends of "what works".
More people need to play this game, especially with how stale and boring the modern gaming industry has gotten. Hopefully this'll get xbox to make a phantom dust 2 because there's literally no other game like it.
Those games also need your vote!

The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3/4
The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3/4Sue Townsend created a phenomenon in the mid-1980s, essentially incorporating lots of sharp satire and observational humour into the diary of a confused teenager. It might sound like an odd idea for a computer game, but Level 9 felt that there was an adventure in there.
