This was my first real racing game. I loved the replay cams ,the detail of my avatar changing gears, using pedals as you performed stunts. Those small but cool details were mind blowing for my young mind. The game also was challenging but just enough to make me want to try harder and not to give up or just breeze through everything easy peasy. Car visuals, customizing ,teams. Good times man good times......
I played this game for the first time in 2017. And even after so many years since the initial release it felt far more advanced and exciting than the majority of modern racing games. Incredible car selection, racing discipline variety, gorgeous tracks, engaging soundtrack, fabulous racing and driving physics. Team and sponsor management aspect stand out to this day. It actually makes you care how your team and your teammate perform. Sometimes you can make a mistake of hiring a driver who is faster than you, but it only makes playing more fun. I truly enjoyed this game and continue enjoying it today. And the fact that there are still mods coming out to enhance the gaming experience does say something. I understand that car licensing is a huge obstacle, but if this game ever releases on GOG (again), I'm sure all racing game enthusiasts will be running back home to buy this masterpiece.

There seems to be a double in this Dreamlist. Oh well. I supposed there's a difference, but what matter is, this is the best racing game that GOG shoulda kept since 2008. It's a shame that car license is a *beach* issue to deal with for Codemasters and also them being a slave to EA, which is just upsetting. But a man can dream and hope this game came back here.
GRID was removed due to licensing issues, which is a shame since it is the best racing game of all time. This is the most up to date version with all DLCs and updates included: archive.org/details/race-driver-grid-english-setup-1.7-2

Race Driver: GRID has probably the best single-player career among racing sim-cades. The risk-reward mechanics from buying a new car for a new tier -> selecting a race -> choosing the difficulty -> not actually destroying the car during the race and still earn some points... is nowhere to be found. Whether in race or in garage menu, the game was pulling your attention.
for a game released in 2008, it's amazing how well it stands up to current times. Good visuals coupled with a unique & fun career mode that can entice you for hours on end. I played it since it was on the Xbox 360 and have been longing for an option for the PC. The fantastic use of sponsorships, the risk/rewards of buying second hand cars, the epic 24 le mans races, have not been replicated to this degree ever since. Truly way ahead of it's time. If put on GOG, this would be a game I would play CONSISTENTLY.
This is a legendary racing game for me. An exciting and immersive racing game, and a masterpiece that is so beautifully designed that it will not get old as time passes. The makers are experts in this field anyway. We don't have time to wait for the game company and the game to be abandoned.

FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Car Tycoon
Car TycoonCar Tycoon is a manager game in which you are the owner of a car company that produces and sells cars. You start in the 1950's in a small town somewhere in the USA. You build a factory, a car shop and a repair facility (most of your money is gone by then) and start to produce cars. By selling them, you'll get money to invent new parts which will then power your new car models. There are up to 3 computer players which want to become rich, too.

Harvest Moon: Skytree Village
Harvest Moon: Skytree Village"Times have changed in the land known as the Oasis of the Harvest Goddess. Many people used to live in Skytree Village, and the land was lush and green. However, the power of the Harvest Goddess gradually began to wane, and the land became parched and dry. With a completely new story, players will be challenged to restore the seven legendary Skytrees that make the town so iconic and bring power and prosperity to the land around them. Along the way, they'll meet a new cast of characters (with a few returning familiar faces!), alongside a brand new art style, new character models, and more. With user-friendly tutorials, players will immediately be able to jump into the thick of things, customizing their farm by raising and lowering the land, creating rivers, ponds, and more. Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge
Lotus Esprit Turbo ChallengeThe first in a series of 3 racing games endorsed by the legendary car company, which is now a part of Proton. The game features a total of 32 fictitious racetracks from around the world, split into 3 difficulty levels. There are 19 computer opponents (15 on the 8-bit versions) and you have to finish in the top 10 (top 8 on the 8-bits) to progress. The higher you finish in one race, the lower down the grid you start for the next race. The opposition drivers have pun names based on the F1 drivers of the day - examples include Ricardo Pastry and Crashhard Banger. You can choose between sound effects or one of a variety of music pieces. The game features a simultaneous 2-player mode, but the 1-player mode only uses half the screen, a simple animation filling the other half. In most races you will have to make a pitstop for fuel in order to reach the finish. The tracks include features such as oil slicks, roadworks, boulders and rivers - contact with these (or the other cars) will slow you, but there is no car damage model.
