The best and my favorite modern Sonic 2D game, the game is done with pure love for the Sonic franchise, many easter eggs and bringing back playable old characters like Mighty and Ray.

Sega allowed some huge Sonic fans to make an official Sonic game. Easily one of the greatest Sonic games ever made!!! This felt like the true sequel to Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Not sorry Sonic 4 series, they just can't compete with this. I loved all the surprises as well. The DLC adds a bit more to the overall experience. You surprisingly get a couple characters to play as. Some fantastic newer zones to play. Even the older zones are still a lot of fun to replay with newer sections added. Sonic Mania has a truly fantastic soundtrack. I played this on a few platforms. It really deserves to be on GOG. I'm even sure it's going to be among the most bought Sega games very quickly. Sonic Mania is a must if you're a Sonic fan. I can't criticize it much because everything about the game done incredibly well.
This is a fantastic throwback to the original Sonic the Hedgehog games on the Genesis; it deserves to be playable without any DRM to hold it back. Sonic Mania is not just a great game, it's a testament to the love and dedication of Sonic's fandom, without which this game would never have existed. By the Mania for the Mania!
I was born in 2002, but thanks to the sonic classic collection, the classic sonic games, 1, 2, and 3 & knuckles, were are huuuuge parts of my childhood. I never had an Xbox, I never had a playstation, the world of platforming was my gaming world, and Sonic was like a home where I could always look forward to a bed and a hot meal. comfortable in seeing the familiar face, but always captivated and excited by the exhilaration of a new adventure. Now, Sonic hasn't been nearly as fun and cool as he once was in the last, 10 or so years. But Sonic Mania was my first trip home in a very long time. The love for sonic throughout this game is undeniable: it's incredible soundtrack, its thoughtful level design, and its expanded roster of characters, all point to a team who was ready and willing to give classic sonic the tune-up that it had deserved for more than a decade. The graphics are so great, and yet so faithful, it can trick your brain into thinking classic sonic has ALWAYS looked that good! This isn't necessarily a ticking clock, a "We can't get this game anywhere else!" situation, you can get this game on basically every modern console. I think this game should be on GOG because GOG loves videogames. I think a videogame that's built with such a strong love for classic sonic should be available on a platform that is so vocal about its love for classic titles. A love letter should go in a heart-studded 'love envelope' that matches.
