Starship Troopers: Terran Ascendancy (2000)

Story:Starship Troopers: Terran Ascendancy is a real time strategy game with a common misunderstanding. This game is not based on the movie Starship Troopers. Both, the game and the movie, are based upon the novel by Robert A. Heinlein. This is one of the few strategy games where you cannot build a base and recruit units. Instead you lead up to three squads into combat. Each squad contains a leader, five soldiers and one specialist (medic, engineer, PSI for detecting hidden bugs, MIST-Trooper as a sniper). During a mission there is no reinforcement and you are outnumbered by the bugs. The enemy units are not very intelligent, but they use their own special abilities like splitting acid and are very powerful. There is a wide range of enemies, from simple close-range fighters to suicide units, artillery bugs and even human soldiers. The mission objectives are also different. From simple hunting missions up to escorts or the capturing of bugs. The game also have a RPG part. Surviving soldiers gain experience points for each killed bug / destroyed bug holes. By and by the soldiers increase their states and acquire higher ranks. Better battle suits (armor) and stronger weapons are only available for soldiers with high ranks. The basic soldier (called Cat Trooper) have no armor and is an easy prey for the bugs. Besides the experience points you gather upgrade points for your equipment for e.g. increase the damage of the weapons. Another aspect of the RPG part is that you can equip each of your soldiers individual with up to two different weapons and two tech-items (like bombs or toxic gas). The graphic of the landscape is low on details, everything looks post apocalyptic. Much better is the combat graphic and the explosions. The cutscenes are made with the in-game graphic. Besides the sound effects your soldiers all have a voice to confirm your orders.Show more

This game really makes you feel like you are in the thick of battle! Sure you got put in command of a few squads, but can you keep them alive?! My dad and I always loved this game because it felt like everything you wanted from Starship troopers.

So many fond memories of this one. Unable to find it and play it on modern systems. Most PC these days don't have a disk drive and the game is nearly impossible to find online. Makes you feel like you're really in the universe. The newer ones don't have nearly as much customization as well.
this is the starship troopers game i have all was wanted to play as a kid since i was to young to play it back then now as an adult i would love to be able to play this amazing starship troopers game that should have gotten a sequle
The best starshiptroopers pc game.Great gameplay, great squad experience.Hard to play in modern systems.Good mix of game modes, good missions.Make you feel a good experience as leading a squad.
Starship Troopers: Terran Ascendancy is one of the most underrated strategy games from the early 2000s. I first experienced it through the demo, and it instantly stood out as the best adaptation of the Starship Troopers universe outside the film itself. The game perfectly captured the gritty, militaristic atmosphere and sense of desperation that fans loved from the movie. What made it truly special was its gameplay and tactical depth. Each mission felt like a proper military campaign, requiring careful unit management, squad positioning, and strategic thinking against overwhelming odds. The Arachnid swarms were relentless, and the satisfaction of completing a tough mission with your troops intact was unmatched.

I always wanted to play this game after watching the full gameplay video on YouTube. The gameplay looks fantastic and mind blowing. I enjoyed Starship Troopers Terran command but this game brilliant. It reminds me of aliens dark descent RTT style
Back when i was 12, the dad of a classmate gave us some of his game disks and i got this. It's one of the games of my childhood that stuck with me. I probably spent my entire summer playing it. Gearing up my squad with the mech suits and min-maxxing their weapons and trying different strats was the best part of this game. Now years later, I haven't managed to make it work on my modern PC, even after trying the several patches you can find. I hope the wizards at GOG manage to gift me and many others a part of our childhood back. Anyways, BUGHOLE SIGHTED!
I was since a young age a big Starship Troopers fan and playing this game everyday after skool made life more enjoyable but at this moment I can play it anymore and would love to see my childhood game back onto modern system's

Zoo Tycoon: Complete Collection
Zoo Tycoon: Complete CollectionAn insidiously addictive simulation game, Zoo Tycoon allows players to create their own zoo, but not just any zoo. It's completely free-form: Start with fences for your exhibits, then pick animals and give them toys, foliage, and anything else you want. For your customers, you can lay down paths to lead them around, then add food stands, amusement rides, even maps and trash cans. Not sure what you need? The zoo advisors will tell you how to make the animals happy, and the customers themselves will tell you what they're looking for, be it snacks, more animals, or anything else. There's also a vast amount of background information on each critter--its diet, its habitat, etc.--which can be useful when you're adding a macrauchenia or a Loch Ness Monster. In all, you can choose over 100 animals, plus countless habitat and park embellishments.

Siren
SirenThe story revolves around an interconnected cast of characters that possess a power which enables them to see and hear what a nearby character sees. The game was followed by a PlayStation 2 sequel, a reimagining for the PlayStation 3 and a film adaption. Siren is divided into stages, each taking place in one of ten areas in the village of Hanuda, and organized chronologically in a table called the "Link Navigator". In order to complete a stage, the player must accomplish a primary objective that usually involves reaching an exit point, subduing undead enemies called "Shibito", or finding an item. Objectives in different stages are interconnected via a butterfly effect, and a character's actions in one stage can trigger a secondary objective in another stage. There are miscellaneous items scattered throughout each stage that give the player further insight into the plot's background. Once obtained, these items are archived in a catalog and can be viewed at any time during the game's duration. The game's player characters possess a psychic power named "sightjack," which enables them to see and hear what a nearby Shibito or human sees and hears, and thus pinpoint its position, as well as gain knowledge of their activities and of the position of obtainable items. The clarity of each target depends on the distance from the player character. Once a point of view is located, it can be assigned to one of certain buttons of the controller to easily switch between multiple points of view. However, the player character is unable to move during use of the ability and is thus vulnerable to attack. The game encourages the player to avoid Shibito rather than fight them. Characters can walk silently, avoid the use of a flashlight, and crouch behind objects to elude detection. Certain mission objectives require the player character to use items and/or the environment to distract Shibito from their activity, in order for them to achieve a goal. Others require the player to escort a non-player character. Player characters can also shout at any time in order to get the attention of nearby Shibito. Within most stages, the player character can hide in certain places such as cupboards and lock doors to prevent Shibito from entering. When a Shibito hears a sound made by the player character, it will search in the direction from which they heard the sound. If a character is seen by a Shibito, the latter will pursue the character to kill them either with a melee or ranged weapon or by strangulation. The Shibito will also shout to alert other nearby Shibito. Once the character has remained out of the Shibito's sight for a period of time, the Shibito will give up and resume its usual habits. Weapons are available for the player throughout the game, ranging from melee weapons to firearms. While Shibito can be knocked out in combat, they cannot be killed and will reanimate after a short period of time. If a character is injured, they can recover after some time has passed. Characters will lose stamina during combat and while running.
