The Grinch

The Grinch (2000)

by Konami
Genres:Adventure, Platform
Themes:Action, Comedy, Kids
Game modes:Single player
Story:First, it was a beloved book, then it was an animated special, next it was a movie, and now Dr. Seuss' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS is a hand-held video game. You play both the Grinch and his faithful pooch, Max, in this creative adaptation. Much like the classic story, THE GRINCH takes place in the idyllic Whoville--where your aim is to cease the event called Christmas. You attempt to do so by wreaking havoc and solving challenging puzzles. The folks of Whoville will try to stop your efforts with love and happiness (blech!), so be on your toes if you hope to avoid them and effectively ruin the holiday. To make things a little easier, you can throw snowballs at the peacenik villagers to keep them at a distance. Each level will present new obstacles and challenges, and the Dr. Seuss world is faithfully translated to the video game format. Whether you're a genuine grouch or you're just in the mood for a great adventure, THE GRINCH is hilarious fun for everyone.Show more

This was my childhood game, I played the demo on the movie's dvd all the time, but it wasn't until a few years ago when I played the full game on PS1. I hope this gets added to GOG to make it more accessible to other people who may have also played this as a kid.

I actually had this game late childhood to early teen years. Funny enough the company responsible for it also made Jersey Devil and Dead by Daylight. This is currently the only Grinch game I played. This was a tie in game to the How the Grinch Stole Christmas live action movie. It's essentially let's prank the people of Whoville. You can play as The Grinch exploring a lot of locations. Easily among the weirdest Grinch appearances to date. You have to figure stuff out on your own to a degree. They took some stuff from the movie. In all honestly it's a vastly different beast from that. You get to see who wicked he truly is. It's no surprise a lot of people missed out on this game. Simply due to the fact it gotten release early 2000s. Closer to PlayStation 2 coming out many people moved on. This has to be among the weirdest licensed games I ever played!!!
**Why *The Grinch* by Konami Should Be on GOG and Why It’s a Great Game** *The Grinch* (2000) by Konami is a charming and surprisingly well-crafted platformer that deserves a second life on GOG. Based on Dr. Seuss’s beloved character, this game lets players step into the green-furred feet of the Grinch himself as he schemes to ruin Christmas for the Whos of Whoville. It mixes stealth, platforming, exploration, and a bit of puzzle-solving to deliver a fun and unique experience, especially for fans of quirky holiday-themed games. What makes *The Grinch* great is how it captures the mischievous tone of the source material while offering engaging and creative gameplay. Players sneak around stealing presents, breaking decorations, and using Grinchy gadgets to sabotage the holiday spirit. It’s a family-friendly title with a subversive twist, making it feel both nostalgic and fresh. Bringing this game to GOG would ensure it's preserved and accessible on modern PCs without DRM, perfect for retro gaming fans and collectors. GOG’s compatibility support would allow new players to experience this cult classic without having to dig up old hardware or deal with emulation hassles. *The Grinch* deserves more recognition for its creativity, personality, and humor. It’s a great game for the holiday season, and one that stands out among early 2000s licensed titles. With a release on GOG, it could find a new audience and finally get the appreciation it always deserved.
