At first glance, Wars and Warriors: Joan of Arc might seem like just another hack-and-slash game. And to some extent, it is. But the game also features different gameplay modes, including a sort of RTS element. Despite its outdated graphics, it has an incredible atmosphere. The soundtrack plays a huge role in immersing you in its world the music is truly beautiful. Many people have probably never even heard of this game, but it’s one of my all-time favorites. In fact, it was this game that sparked my deep interest in history, especially the Hundred Years' War. The game includes character progression, skill upgrades, and even some armor, though not much. You can find unique weapons and even upgrade them, though I don’t quite remember how… maybe with gemstones or crosses? Besides leveling up Joan of Arc, you also need to manage other characters, like Jean de Metz and La Hire. Funny enough, before playing the game, I had already seen Luc Besson’s The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc. Then, after playing Wars and Warriors: Joan of Arc, I rewatched the movie and realized how much the game had borrowed from it. One of the best parts of the game is the castle sieges. Well, "best" by 2004 standards, keep that in mind. But with a little imagination, you can really feel like you’re in medieval France. The game is available on Steam, but I really wish it were on GOG as a DRM-free title. Again, it's not a well-known game, but I still hope that one day it will be added to the GOG library.

L.A. Noire
L.A. NoireL.A. Noire is a neo-noir detective action-adventure video game developed by Team Bondi and published by Rockstar Games. It was initially released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms on 17 May 2011; a Microsoft Windows port was later released on 8 November 2011. L.A. Noire is set in Los Angeles in 1947 and challenges the player, controlling a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officer, to solve a range of cases across five divisions. Players must investigate crime scenes for clues, follow up leads, and interrogate suspects, and the player's success at these activities will impact how much of each case's story is revealed. The game draws heavily from both the plot and aesthetic elements of film noir—stylistic films made popular in the 1940s and 1950s that share similar visual styles and themes, including crime and moral ambiguity—along with drawing inspiration from real-life crimes for its in-game cases, based upon what was reported by the Los Angeles media in 1947. The game uses a distinctive colour palette, but in homage to film noir it includes the option to play the game in black and white. Various plot elements reference the major themes of detective and mobster stories such as The Naked City, Chinatown, The Untouchables, The Black Dahlia, and L.A. Confidential.

Monster Hunter
Monster HunterMonster Hunter is an online action-hunting game by CAPCOM for the PlayStation 2 released on March 11th, 2004 in Japan, and September 21st, 2004 in North America. The game is a fantasy hunting simulator filled with many deadly monsters. Like actual hunting, successfully killing or capturing the monsters requires significant strategy, skill and involved resource management. While initially considered a commercial failure, Monster Hunter would go on to become one of CAPCOM's highest selling franchises. Despite featuring an offline mode, Monster Hunter was primarily an online game. The official servers were shut down on December 31, 2007 in North America and Europe, and July 1, 2011 in Japan. This means that it is now impossible to play online on official CAPCOM servers. Despite this, the game still features a small active community on private servers.

Zoo Tycoon: Complete Collection
Zoo Tycoon: Complete CollectionAn insidiously addictive simulation game, Zoo Tycoon allows players to create their own zoo, but not just any zoo. It's completely free-form: Start with fences for your exhibits, then pick animals and give them toys, foliage, and anything else you want. For your customers, you can lay down paths to lead them around, then add food stands, amusement rides, even maps and trash cans. Not sure what you need? The zoo advisors will tell you how to make the animals happy, and the customers themselves will tell you what they're looking for, be it snacks, more animals, or anything else. There's also a vast amount of background information on each critter--its diet, its habitat, etc.--which can be useful when you're adding a macrauchenia or a Loch Ness Monster. In all, you can choose over 100 animals, plus countless habitat and park embellishments.

Sim Theme Park
Sim Theme ParkLike the previous title, Theme Park World tasks players with managing a series of amusement parks. To do this, the player must choose how to spend their available funds, finding a way to expand the number and scope of their parks while remaining profitable. Income from the park can be used to purchase new rides or attractions, hire staff to maintain the park, and other similar functions. Various elements can be controlled by the player, such as the name of the park, the price of admission, the layout of the roller-coaster tracks, and the quality of food in the park restaurants. An ant-like announcer by the name of Buzzy, voiced by Terry McGovern in the American-tailored Sim Theme Park and Lewis MacLeod in UK release Theme Park World, helps the player with advice during gameplay.
