Still one of the only worms games that you cannot buy on modern systems.
Why I love this game:
There is a reason why I have kept up with this game for nearly two decades (other than just pure nostalgia), it's just so fun. The campaign is great, and it might be one of the best in the series, it's got a great pace of challenge but also with how many ideas it offers. But of course, playing a normal match never gets old, I just always find a way to come up with ideas on how to achieve victory. Getting better at this game feels so satisfying with all the different weapons & maps it gives you. I also really like the diversity of map themes, such as going from a war theme to colourful expressive themes, there is just so much in terms of maps they offer.
I played this game a lot with my brother growing up, always seeing who can beat each other. So many great laughs over the years.
Why I think this game deserves GOG Preservation:
It's an absolute timeless classic and my favourite of the worms series, it always seems to bring me such joy whenever I boot it up, there is a reason why I stuck around with it for about 16-17 years (might even be one of the first games I've played as well).
However I really do believe it's one of the best in the series, from the hilarious yet strategic gameplay, to a generally great atmosphere.
I feel like the reason why this hasn't been brought back yet is because of Worms Ultimate Mayhem (WUM), which includes this games campaign, however....it's just not the same with that game. With the honestly great soundtrack and visuals, brings a sort of war tone about it in certain missions, which I felt like was lost in WUM.
Maybe WUM is considered better than 3D, which is why we never gotten it back, but I think the tone and faster pace of this game goes unmatched, and I feel like this game also controls better as well, it feels like there is always a solution to reach certain heights.
This game deserves preservation, a 21 year old timeless classic.
