As the topic says: When I launch the game from GOG it always freezes then crashes when I get to the loading screen after the intro logos. If I launch it with any method other than GOG it works

I have tried uninstalling BG3 and uninstalling GOG

1 there is a bg3 forum ... this is the wrong place
2. you are uning Windows 11 perhaps?
3 have you got a Larian account and is that account linked to Gog?
4 poland is having their holiday and this forum / their server always goes to shit at holiday times
5 a crash at loading screen will be sync, permission or gpu/ ram settings... as you say it works without gog i'd test sync first which means you have to check your profile folders are working i.e, multiplayer, cross-saves and achievements / twitch links all assume Galaxy

I had the same issue, and it seems GOG Galaxy related. If you launch the game from GOG galaxy it takes between 2-5 minutes to load, it seems to freeze but it's actually loading something or waiting for a server answer. When the GOG overlay finally appears you are good to go, if you have not pressed alt tab before (in which case the game will never load and endlessly freeze).

The solution is to launch the game from the folder "Baldurs Gate 3/Launcher", and click "LariLauncher.exe".

Ok I found the fix to this issue:

Go in GOG Galaxy parameters and disable the Overlay in game functionalities.

I went from 5 minutes loading time to a few seconds after I disabled the GOG overlay :)
