Hi,
I've created my first TCI/IP BGII game with a friend yesterday. As I don't know the game thoroughly we made 3 imported characters for each other with all the allowance in the Characterrs arbitrary array and eagerly clicked Finished to get to the core quickly..
It's in he game that things screwed up. We were six losers on the board with all the prisoners in cells.
There were a lot of dialogues and we were asked to eliminate characters many times... Although it seems to be a good turn-based game it was puzzling to the least.
So, with a random character, I wandered through the area. I discovered the stargate yet Imissing the key to use it.
There was a Golem jailkeeper, a bat, swords, armor ... many of the crew died before we could understand the goal of the game hence my
Is there a good tutorial to get the gist of the game or can I benefit of a player's experience please?

Using an entire custom party is supported and should work. However, in certain cases, pre-created characters will forcibly join your party whether you want them or not. If this results in the party size exceeding 6, then you will be given a prompt to remove characters from the party. (The protagonist cannot be removed, so CHARNAME's portrait is never a choice in this dialogue.) You may, if you wish, remove from the party the pre-created character who just forcibly joined the party. In every case I know of, this will result in further dialogue where they offer to rejoin, but you can reject them.

You may find the tutorial offered in Candlekeep in Baldur's Gate 1 useful, assuming you have that game. If not, you could try reading the beginning of an online walkthrough for Baldur's Gate 2, or setting the difficulty level to "Story mode", which is a documented to make the party unkillable. That is not very fun for a combat game, but it will give you a chance to acclimate to the game's rules without reloading constantly. Once you are comfortable with how to fight, go back to the beginning and play on a difficulty level you like.

Also, for new players, I highly recommend enabling the auto-pause options (Options -> Gameplay -> Auto-pause) "Enemy Sighted", "Character hit", "Character's target destroyed", and "Trap Found". You may also like "Spell Cast". These slow down gameplay, and may become tedious in multiplayer. I find it preferable to go a bit slower and reload less than to frequently have my party standing idle while the enemy acts. The Enhanced Editions offer a party AI, but I've never gotten it to behave to my satisfaction.
An important rule of thumb in the tutorial: talk to everybody and try to exhaust all the conversation they can do. Process what they say. *Check the journal after conversations* (or even just check the journal from time to time to recall what your next moves should be). What you need to do next often changes after conversations provide new information.
