GameRager: Leon.......Help!

That game was so good......despite the escort stuff.
I admit that it's a decent TPS, my problem with it is that it effectively ruined the RE series by turning it from a survival horror puzzle series into a mindless action series, similar to what happened to Fallout with 3.

GameRager: I never finished it but TW 1 has an AMAZING and engaging musical score for the title screen.
avatar
Cavalary: Indeed it does. Add that on top of the exploration and riding that I already mentioned. The second one unfortunately doesn't have the good one at menu. Might have made it a bit more bearable if it did. Damn, how they screwed up that one, was saying at the time that they pretty much broke everything good about the first while leaving what was bad.
Oh well...at least we still have the awesome music eh? :D

Maybe, but sometimes a genre change can be done well overall/in various ways. RE4, imo had good setting/some chars(Ada/that prince/the village chief/etc)/decent gameplay/etc.....and even with all the action it was still tense(to me) with having to keep that girl safe and constantly watch for enemies. Of course, YMMV naturally.

Also the series did go back to more traditional survival horror with reboot entries/etc.

TARFU: OK, fair enough.

GameRager: I made a thread about it in general(the topic) I will also take your convo personally to PM still if the thread/having it in public would still be not preferrable to you.
Yeah, I saw the thread but I'd rather not get bogged down in that kind of discussion. I'm surprised that thread is staying calm and civil, though. How long before trolls disrupt it, do you think?

So far it;s gone well(albeit it evolved into a discussion about economic disparity), so i'm hopeful.

BTW I know you seem against it, but if you ever change your mind you can always just pop in and add a reply or two and pop off again without feeling any need to stay and keep replying.....basically no pressure. :)
I have to add another game to my previous submission...

Sniper: Art of Victory

Within the genre of FPS games, TCS (Tactical Combat Simulation) games are my personal favourite sub-genre, with games like the first few generations of Tom Clancy Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon series titles, and the ArmA series being among some of my favourites. I also am fond of games which aren't strictly within the confines of the sub-genre as well though, like the Sniper Elite series, and the Sniper Ghost Warrior series.

Sniper: Art of Victory is the first game in the Ghost Warrior series or perhaps more accurately it's predecessor, and while the game is rather dated now, and pales in comparison to all of the other titles I've mentioned above both in story, dialogue, realism and complexity, it still seems to be a fun game to me so far (I'm only a few missions in currently so this opinion could change). It's probably the weakest game in all the ones I listed above, but it is still enjoyable at least to me - despite the fact it has only a 31% "Mostly Negative" rating on Steam.

It seems like the type of game I'll want to complete and then move on to something else, rather than being one which is likely to have any major replay value. A short diversion through the backlog as it were.

Sure, the game has some AI flaws, movement flaws (I'm perpetually falling off ladders), and other quirks, but it's not as terrible a game to me than it would seem the majority of people seem to think about it. From what I've seen so far about the game I'd give it a 65% rating on the surface, but then have to lower it down to 60% due to lack of ability to change the game resolution, lack of widescreen support, and lack of ability to make the game show up on my secondary display instead of the primary display.

Despite the inherent flaws it has, I'm still enjoying it enough to keep playing it even though I know I have better games in the genre which I haven't played all the way through yet. But then again, I'm a sucker for sniper type gemes and there aren't enough of them out there. :)

Yes! CI Games represented. Warms my heart. Thanks for posting that!

I'll raise you an Enemy Front. ;)
I don't LOVE it but I liked Oblivion well enough, still lesser than Morrowind but more than Skyrim. The good : rich world, streamlined quests, the Shivering Isles DLC is gold... The bad : poor lore. The ugly : many character models and those reused caves maps.

Oblivion is great! ^_^
