Another thread about looking for a certain type of game.
Basically, I'm looking for something like this:
* A Metroidvania, in a similar style to Koji Igarasht's games. (This includes things like character growth, decent weapon/skill variety, save points, and so on.)
* The game needs to be reasonably balanced. (This is one case where Iga's games tend to not do well. Symphony of the Night is particularly bad here.)
* In particular, there should be a difficulty setting, available at the start, where the start of the game is manageable, but the late game isn't so easy it's boring.
Before anyone mentions them:
* Timespinner suffers from it being too easy to get your defense up high enough that enemies can't do significant damage. This happens even if you're just playing normally, doing side quests when possible, and doing a decent amount of exploration. On the hardest difficulty, where you can't level up, you die in like two hits near the start of the game.
* Bloodstained isn't quite as bad, but it still does tend to have a huge difficulty drop around mid-game. Furthermore, Nightmare difficulty (which caps your level to 1) is not manageable until you've defeated at least the second boss.
