I would have to recommend the fantastic 'DUSK' it's a great fps with a heavy, oppressive, horror atmosphere. It starts out on a spooky farmstead in which you face off against chainsaw wielding cultists, demonic goats, and possessed scarecrows, and things only get more sinister the further you go. The movement is fast and fluid, the shooting feels impactful, and the soundtrack is a mix of great heavy metal tunes and eerie ambient themes. It's a tense, thrilling, and incredibly fun shooter that hearkens back to the days of Quake. A worthy purchase for any horror fan!

Back 4 Blood, it's like a remake of Left 4 Dead; similar to Dead Rising 4 being Dead Rising 1 if it was made today.

When it comes to horror games, I absolutely adore Alien: Isolation. Everything is perfect: the atmosphere, the gameplay, the story. Specially for fans of the movies (particularly the first two), it's just an amazing game!

Amnesia: The Dark Descent

My favorite horror game of all time.

It has it all - good story, great soundtrack and an unsettling atmosphere.

The story revolves around a guy named Daniel who, while on an expedition in Algeria uncovers an ancient artifact - an orb. The orb wields incredible power but is also cursed and everyone else who was on that same expedition dies under mysterious circumstances.

Meanwhile Daniel is followed by a malevolent force referred to as "The Shadow" which is the guardian of the orb. In his desperation he seeks the help of a mysterious Prussian baron - Alexander of Brennenburg. The two start doing some really messed up things at his castle in order to rid Daniel of the curse - kidnapping and murdering people, torture etc. At some point Daniel becomes so horrified by the things he has done that he drinks a tonic that makes him forget hence the title of the game.

Throughout the course of the game Daniel starts to slowly remember the events prior to the start of the game through various letters and diaries scattered around the rooms of Castle Brennenburg as well as flashbacks that show the terrible things that have happened.

The soundtrack and the sound design in general is amazing. You'll hear feet dragging across the floor, footsteps, distant cries etc. It really reinforces the feeling that you're not alone in the castle.

The monsters are absolutely terrifying as well with their grotesque physique and the sounds they make. Also the longer Daniel stares at them the more he loses his sanity and zero sanity results in instant death.

In order to keep your sanity in check you need to seek out light sources such as candles or torches and you're also given an oil lantern early in the game.

I think Amnesia really reinvented the horror genre or at the very least revived it. I loved how the game forces you to run and hide instead of facing the dangers head on. It keeps you on your toes at all times and you never feel at ease.

A must-play for any horror fan for sure!
