Wow these PLA concept arts are incredible. Just so much great stuff. Just makes me hopeful for what they might but able to do with Switch 2
PROBABLY THE SAME THING THAT MONOLITH SOFT COULD DO ON THE 3DS GIVEN A MODICUM OF TIME AND STAFF SPECIALIZED IN 3D.
GAME FREAK BUILT DIFFERENT, [SKILL ISSUE]!
Let's talk about studios which are squandering their potential. In the case of Game Freak, they manage to put out games which perform terribly on the same software platform that got a wholecloth port of Xenoblade Chronicles (the 3DS), due to a lack of time and staff specialized in the horrifying world of 3D. It isn't like they've had since 1996 or so to catch up.
I understand that in the general circles of popular gaming, 343i is cited as an example of squandered potential regarding the post Bungie Halo franchise; how the lore was foundationally dumped out of the long mythos and into a half baked reboot that nobody wanted because 343i has Marvelitis.
Bethesda Softworks: A strangulation of their own creation, the GCS. It was great for 2002, but has become something of a heavy lourde; becoming rather a set of manacles rather than undisputed creative freedom within their own engine. Bad writing and Gentrification of the settings of the Elder Scrolls aside, placing the games upon the husk of a 20 year old game engine can't be good for the blood of a young developer.
Ooh, here's a fun one: Cloud Imperium Games. 12 years and millions of dollars of churn and they've got what technically constitutes a playable alpha even though some people have done the crazy thing and spent 20k$ on a game that may never be completed.
