It's fun that Steam('s community) elects the owners of the concurrent platform.

It doesn't mean much, as I don't expect a large awareness of that amongst the voters, but, whatever, there's something sweet about it.
Kinda takes the wind out of the whole thing, when you see:
2018 Game of the year winner: PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds
2018 Labor of love winner: Grand Theft Auto V

a game from 2017 and one from 2013.

EDIT: Then again Witcher 3 is from 2015, so I guess that evens out. :))

"Labor of love"
Rockstar works their whole staff harder than an East Germany prostitute in 1983
also PUBG is just a literal bootleg ARMA (Bluehole had the absolute fucking nerve to try and sue the people whos game engine they used? wtf)
Steam is a an absolute joke. also the community is cancer, and this is coming from a cancerous person who spent their younger years on a site who literally caused riots from pranks.

I love it when old games win. I'm voting Pac-Man next year.

Seriously, though, some games get better with age. PUBG certainly has, probably. Witcher got better because some people finally finished it. GTAV has some online mode folks love. So it makes sense. To me.

Most people don't care in fairness, they know CDP for Witcher, you'd be shocked by the amount of people who don't know what or who GOG is/does.

from 2013.
Isn't the whole point of "Labor of love" nomination to suggest the game that had great support from developers for years?

Or cares about it. I voted for Klei, btw.

2018 Steam Awards
The awards were so blatantly rigged, I can't believe anyone actually trust them.
Congrats i guess but it doesn't mean anything anymore, it's 2019 and gamers are dumber than ever but by all means enjoy your shitty live service game GTA V and Battle Royale PUBG when there are far better games deserving of the spot.

Mainly smaller titles instead of nick and dime every penny out of your pocket and crappy games (in my opinion ofc) but it is what it is however it doesn't give me a lot of hope for the future if everyone swallow the tactics used by larger publishers like monetizations schemes.

GTA V as labor of love my ass.

they deserve it.

Congrats team CDPR

2018 Best Developer: CD Projekt Red > Whether it was by listening to their fans, creating something genuinely unexpected, or just delivering on the promise of a truly great game, this studio absolutely crushed it in 2018.
Way to go, CDPR! And once Cyperpunk 2077 is launched, I have the funny feeling you'll also win the 2019 (2020?) Game Of The Year title. ;)

And from what i've heard about RDR2 it doesn't look much better there, each to their own but it's not exactly what i have would have picked and only confirms for the 100th time what i already knew and that is most gamers don't care how they are treated by publishers/devs or by the experience they are getting with all the bullshit injected into the games they buy.

Time to look forward to forced cloud gaming in the near future :)
