Me and a friend of mine really loved playing the Serious Sam games. It has a full blown campaign that you can play in multiplayer.

Most other shooters seem to limit themselves to a completely separate multiplayer mode with much smaller maps where you can do Death Match, Capture the Flag, etc.

This is great for hardcore shooter fans who want to pit their skills against other humans, but for more recreational shooter enthusiasts, I think coop campaign mode is better (it has a richer narrative).

I was wondering if there are other shooters on GOG, besides Serious Sam (and its sequel), where you can play campaign mode in coop with other players.

Anybody knows?

Ah on GOG...
Eh..
Maybe.. System Shock 2?
You can play Unreal's campaign coop. A nice and lengthy campaign too with big levels to explore.
I think Saint's Row 3 has a campaign co-op. Never tried it myself, so not sure if/how that works.

Music to my eyes, thanks :).

Cool, will look into that.

Well, DRM-free. GOG is the main player in that arena, but I guess Humble Store or DotEmu are fine too.

I don't think they have it here. What about 1 & 2?

They do, it's called 'The Third' though instead of just 3.
I have no idea if the co-op works on the GOG version though or how it works at all, I've never found anyone willing to try it with me.

Thanks for the pointer.

It''s advertised as multiplayer/co-op so I think odds are very good that it works properly.

And yeah, finding people to play with as you grow older is difficult (nobody seems to have the time anymore).

I occasionally play with my buddies from high school on Saturdays in day-long LANathons.

it's not on gog but i finished borderlands 1 and it had option to play co-op but i always play alone. game says that the bigger your party gets, the tougher the monsters become and better loot from them. but game is rather boring and there are some big flaws in it especially since i played sniper - biggest problem is that zooming just scales the image, it doesn't make your aim more precise. to give a simple example, if you don't zoom you can move your aim by 1 pixel right? well if you zoom x 2, you move your aim by 2 pixels so it's same accuracy in the end. i had to compensate this by crouching or standing or moving left / right to adjust my aim better. also i couldn't find a single good revolver with a scope in all the game - even at end i was still using a lvl 20 revolver i got from a quest
You can also play the and [url=https://www.gog.com/game/doom_ii_final_doom]Doom 2 (+ Final Doom) campaigns in co-op.

Ghost Recon plays pretty well in co-op, in LAN at least. Friggin expansions aren't on GOG though.

I also recently persuaded somebody into playing Hidden & Dangerous 2 in co-op, LAN again. Actually I don't know if it's the campaign or if it's got just a handful of special co-op missions. But from what I hear, it works.

I agree it'd be cool to have more co-op shooters.

I seem to recall that co-op PvE is a major aspect of Left 4 Dead and Vermintide, though I haven't played either myself.

EDIT: Oops, didn't see the 'on GOG' part. Nevermind then.

SWAT 4 is great. It is not necessarily a guns blazing shooter, but coop in this game is amazing.

From the store page:
NOTE: Multiplayer is available only through a LAN connection
So, in short, beyond Serious Sam I & II:

Unreal Gold
System Shock 2
Saint's Row, The Third
Doom I & II
Ghost Recon
Hidden & Dangerous 2
SWAT 4

Thanks for the great feedback guys. The list, while unfortunately a small fraction of shooters, is longer than I original thought it would be.
Do not forget Duke Nukem 3D coop
