Hello,

I just want to know if the games on GOG are infested with EOS too? I found some older posts for Manor lords and Titan Quest where people saying that EOS were added but how is it in general? As an example does "Control" have EOS implented here on GOG bcs according to steamdb it has EOS on steam.
I don’t know what "EOS" is, but if it is supposed to be some kind of DRM it is most probably not active in Titan Quest. I can play that one with no problem at all here, and I am not even using Windows (nor Galaxy).
The greek goddess? End of service?
Tons of games here have Epic Online Service components in the install. As far as I’m aware, it’s just for trophy related business or online play. I can’t recall whether Control has the components, but they absolutely do not interfere with your offline play at all.

its not about if it interferes with anything or not i just dont want to have that crap on my PC tho seems like i make my ship ready again then
I’m not an expert by any means….but can’t u just remove the corresponding .dlls after using the offline installer? I know that THQ/Nordic adds the eos in most of their games now.

Also, our version of control still has the bugged boss fight with the clock.

Care to elaborate on this?

I finished Control last year and got 95% through the DLC (AWE or The Foundation, not sure which...) before, for some reason, I stopped playing. I vaguely remember some mini-boss fight with a street light, but no clock. Would be interesting if by sheer coincidence I stopped playing just right before a bugged part, lol.

I misspoke. The boss is a hidden boss called the Anchor. It shoots clocks...which crashes the system.

So I did indeed actually stop playing just before a bugged part! :D

okay, thanks for answer. =]

Edit after edit: Ah, a hidden boss... okay, well good to know anyhow.

This is correct. From my experience, you do not need EOS installed to play the games. It's just an Online service for Cross-platform, mostly.

If any game uses EOS I don't see any reason why it shouldnt been here. It is part of the game. There may be some exceptions - like Tomb Raider GOTY where the entire online functionality is removed so the game probably don't have the EOS update steam got hit with a few years ago for all 3 TR games.

I understand not wanting the extra baggage, but again, it doesn't do anything if you don't use it, it's like many other games having steam related files (so the GOG version can have achievements and other functionalities)

Just forget about it
EOS (Epic Online Services) or other "online components", as long as they do not cause a game to become DRM locked = online only, it does not matter if it is still available on a build or not.

Considering the game "Control", as far as i know all versions GOG, Steam and EGS are almost the same build with only very minor tweaks to the GOG version. Which means, bugs happening to the GOG version will or should affect the Steam or EGS version as well.

However, the Steam build got DRM. The EGS build is without DRM and could be run directly from the executables, comparable to the GOG version but without installer of course.

Steam build got 3 "newer" updates but not sure this bug has been addressed there because those updates was basically adding DX11 (apparently it was previously disabled on Steam) and Offline mode to the Steam build. No info regarding bug-fixing.

Apparently even the Steam version got this bug but no clue regarding the EGS build. A lot of people seems to know "how to fix it" on the net but not sure it really works, a lot of guessing here. It seems there are near countless solutions, hinting to a "stability issue" which is kinda Pandora´s box because endless sources possible and every little solution able to "Increase stability" might work.

Perhaps this fix may work, https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/2581-control-hdrultrawidedlssrt-patch/ as it basically makes changes to the "graphical interface" and even "restoring" the EGS-save interface, which could be the source of the bug. As... most people seem to use this "patch", they might not be affected by the bug anymore.

Pretty possible the EGS version is without this bug because it was the "initial version" the dev was most of the time working at. The other versions kinda got "added settings" which could be creating issues with the game stability, unless some patch is basically restoring some old settings.

Just be aware: The old saves will not work anymore using this patch, at least not without some modding! So best to use this patch on a new game!
