Purple is my favorite color, so I really can't say I'm mad :P
Oh, and about that Galaxy button I'm actually surprised it took them so long to place it there.

MarkoH01: GOG PLEASE STOP!

Please stop throwing around GOG Galaxy logos and hints everywhere on the site as if it is god's given gift to earth. It's not! It's a client, it's far from being perfect and it MIGHT be useful for some and useless to others. You promised that it's completely optional and I for one am believing you to stay true to your word here. However it's annoying that you constantly push your precious Galaxy logo in our face so that we probably will dream about it one day. Yes, it is still optional but showing this logo everywhere will make people hate GOG Galaxy instead of accepting or trying it. If you advertize something too much you won't reach your goal that many will try it you might as well achieve the opposite in the end. Sometimes less is more. Please think about this.

I already contacted Barefoot_Monkey in the thread. But still it can't be the solution to disable everything via script that GOG throws at us. It would be better if GOG would implement things in their site that are nice to look at and/or useful.
How can they present Galaxy so that it is present for new people in a way that you find acceptable? Because it seems like the only thing that will make you (and some others) happy is to not show any information on Galaxy whatsoever. Not that I entirely agree or disagree with anything you said, but offer a solution instead of constantly whining about the problem.
"Don't show it here. Or there either. Nope, not there. No, I won't tell you where I think it's acceptable, keep guessing."

They've spent (and continue to spend) a lot of time and money on Galaxy for the users who want it. Just because you don't, don't disparage them for trying to make sure people know how to find it.

paladin181: Instead of all those useful links that probably almost no one used, there's now a "Try GOG Galaxy" button... thoughts?
I actually used them regularly (easiest way to get to community wishlist, for instance). Better static links in the footer than hover menus at the top.

MarkoH01: As I said, I believe them when they say that Galaxy will stay optional. But I don't believe in the kind of advertizing they do. Just think about watching TV and every 10 minutes or so during the commercial break you will see an advertizement for a certain product. You will see this advertizemend in EVERY commercial. It's clear that you won't forget this product anymore but I really doubt that after so much advertizement for the same product it wouzld make you curious to try this product. As I said - there's a certain dosage of advertizement that is helpful after this you might get the opposite.
Actually, welcome to TV in America on the smaller stations or shows. They don't get too many advertisers, so you get the same commercials for the same shows every commercial break, at times 2 or 3 times in a break. I have almost stopped watching A&E full stop because of it, even though I love the programs.

I would not consider ONE post constantly whining. I critizized GOG that they should stop pushing Galaxy everywhere and THAT is all I was critizising. We have Galaxy in the menu and we have it on every game page so why do we need to see it now on every single page? You see my "solution" is right at the beginning of my post. Just stop. We already have enough Galaxy advertizement.

Don't know to what you are referring here but it could not be my post since I explicitely stated what I want (see above).

Believe it or not - I do even use it. (I said in my post that it is useful for some and useless for others). I don't know what you think I have said but maybe you should just read my one post again.

Again in clear words: I am just thinking GOG is overdoing it and that they will probably achieve the opposite of what they want (meaning hate against Galaxy). This is just an analysis of what they did here and how most people here react. There is enough panic of GOG becoming mandatory as it is. Constantly telling people how GOG is all about Galaxy probably won't make it better.

Grargar: If they are going to promote the shit out of the client, isn't it better if they put it in a place where it can be instantly seen upon loading the website? Like how Steam is doing it? Burying it in the footer of the site isn't a particularly great idea.
They've already tried aggressively promoting it with the Galaxy-bundled installers debacle, so let's not encourage any more experimentation. Besides, I think the new look is nice... and the less obvious footer link to the Galaxy installer is an acceptable compromise for Galaxy and non-Galaxy users alike.

muttly13: For profit company pays for development, advertises one their own site, ignores a niche market (for the time being, who know sin the future), and its unreasonable for them to do so?
The Linux version of Galaxy was announced in 2014, along with the rest. "for the time being" apparently means "forever".

As to the rest of your post, I don't know where you get all that from what I wrote. While it's their site, and they can do what they want, they can't expect me to care or want to use galaxy, because they don't want to support me. Every time they make a big, splashy announcement about Galaxy I am simply reminded once more that gog (and CDPR) doesn't give a damn about Linux users.

I'm not suggesting anything too special. Just remove the "About" section from the header and place the words "Install Galaxy" in purple on the upper-right part of it. Then, you can just place the "About GOG.com" on the footer as is the usual case for a lot of websites.

I think it clashes badly with the grey theme. Less purple (or a lighter hue) would help.

I'm all for moving the dubiously placed "About" section or its contents in the footer, but I would not move the "Install Galaxy" button on the top bar. Placing it as a first option in the "Store" menu would be fine, but again, we're splitting hairs here... it's fine where it is, and even if it were not and GOG wanted to change it, it would still take close to a decade™.

To each his own. I have a feeling Cyberpunk 2077 is going to hurt your eyes :P.

Actually, I strongly disagree. The whole problem with Galaxy and the moronic reason they did the insane action of slipping Galaxy into the installers is because they made it nigh-on impossible to figure out that the dang thing is needed for the advertised features for most games (leaderboards, achievements, etc.). At first I thought customers were just being stupid until I poked around for myself and realized just how difficult it is to find information on it. I think they need MORE advertisement, but in particular, they need PROPER advertisement for it. While the download button at the bottom of the page is kind of stupid, because who in the blazes is going to see that, they could benefit so much from just advertising on the store pages that the features they mention are Galaxy-specific and linking to a page explaining what Galaxy is and what it does.
Please, please, please keep this thing optional.
How can we get to the Wishlist, now they've removed the link?

FrodoBaggins: How can we get to the Wishlist, now they've removed the link?
Go to navigation bar, hover "COMMUNITY" and from the menu select "Community wishlist".

Or click "COMMUNITY", and on community/forum page use button "Community Wishlist" from top right corner.

https://www.gog.com/wishlist
Ahh, so THAT'S where they've hidden it.

Thanks InkPanther ( :
The new Footer not always keeps the bottom position, eg on someone profile page, on games card, when someone has got private collection. There is empty space between bottom of Footer and bottom of Page. I think .layout[min-height] calculated value is too small.
