Banlieue 13 (aka "District 13")

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0414852/?ref_=nv_sr_1

There is also a Hollywood remake of that movie called "Brick Mansions", but it is quite awful, don't watch it.

The cool (or "cúlè" as the French say) thing about French gangsters is that they are all very athletic and do parkour day in day out. They are not like e.g. Italian mafia gangsters who are very fat from eating salami pizza day in day out.

Geralt_of_Rivia: *) Even though it is strictly speaking not a gangster movie (It is a mystery/crime story though.) I think this is a French movie no one should miss: Le pacte des loups.
"Strictly speaking"? That's not a gangster movie by even the loosest, most generous definition. It's got elements of at least five or six other genres, though. :P

Cambrey: Dobermann (1997)

A crook known as Dobermann (Vincent Cassel) has a soft spot for guns, and he loves using them -- especially to rob banks. Flanked by his deaf but equally violent lover Nat the Gipsy (Monica Bellucci), plus a brutal and bizarre pack of fellow thieves, Dobermann pulls off a tricky job that results in the death of police officers. After the heist, the group is pursued by the rogue cop Cristini (Tcheky Karyo), who spits bile and will stop at nothing to take down the gang.
The best movie ever made in the history of mankind. Yep.

"- Alors les filles, on se pignole toujours sur les voleurs de poules ?
- Mais tout le monde peut pas avoir la chance de torturer des petits dealers de 15 ans...
- C'est bizarre, j'ai les mains qui sentent la viande."

The worlds first "heist" movie
Does that one with Natalie Portman count?
Looks like a nice film library to me

The Professional?

Hmmmm
One cast member is from France, one from the U.K and one from Israel.

Written and directed by a Frenchie.

Budget is given in French francs.

Production companies: Gaumont, Les Films du Dauphin

This film couldn't get any more French if it was wearing a beret and singing the Marseillaise.

You know I actually know the lyrics to that, in French. :P

I took four years of French in high school, going on thirty years ago, and THAT IS ALL I RETAINED! :P
Problem is, shortly after I learned it they changed marchons to chantons which made it a little confusing.

What ?

I never heard a "chantons" version. And I've heard many.
