Email from GOG:

We want to let you know about few changes: (1) We’re adding a new functionality - GOG Direct to Account that will enable partnered platforms to activate, directly on your GOG.COM account, content purchased via these selected third party platforms; (2) we’re concluding the Fair Price Package program that some users were eligible for. For more details please see here. (3) We’ve also refreshed our Voluntary Refund Policy now offering refunds for GOG Wallet funds.

I'm happy about this. Key reselling but without the abuse of actual keys. More people can find out about GOG and competition with prices. Good, considering prices are often worse than deals on Steam.

Say what? The text before that statement doesn't say "key reselling" in it. Although I'm not clear what it is saying, either.

Where are you getting this "key reselling" stuff from?

From my understanding it means that other platform will be able to "activate" games in your Gog account. For example it could mean, (that's a supposition), you purchase a game / bundle on Humble Bundle, and instead of getting a Gog key that you need to copy and paste to reclaim, it directly "activate" it in your account.

It has been a long time but IIRC that's something that is done with Steam when you want to reclaim "free" games on Humble Bundle, to avoid peoples getting the key for the free game and reselling it.

Purchase via third party and redeeming.
Basically what the guy above me said.

Kind of nice not needing to login to my email in order to read the new messages :-)
Yes as above.

But I'll just add that the third party does not just mean game websites like Humble but can also mean such things as hardware promotions- like buy an AMD GPU and it comes with a digital game download. This is to prevent people from buying up huge stock and selling each individual item and game key for profit on ebay, and tries to make it like a bonus promotion as intended for genuine buyers.
Such as late last year I bought an RX580 when AMD had a promotion - it came with AC Odyssey, Strange Brigade and Star Control Origins. The latter two were just Steam keys that I could sell , but the Ubi game could only be added by directly activated using AMD's website.

Are they saying anything about which platforms GOG Direct will work with?

They haven't said anything about it really other than what was in the email and user agreement. Right now it's a lot of speculation.

No, but they should, otherwise it's an invitation to scammers.

No, but I suspect Humble is one of the most likely candidate.
THIS
... that will enable partnered platforms to activate, directly on your GOG.COM account ...
does not sound like something that I would like to have - at least not without an option to activate/deactivate it!

What is a "partnered platform? Another games store? Fakebook? Twitter?

I do not see or read anything about the activation of keys and I do not care about such a feature because I do not buy games from steam or other companies that ask me to install their client software in addition to their games.

What if I refuse to let other platforms do anything with my account? Sounds (like the public profile issue) more like another clusterf*ck and PR disaster for gog.com in the near future. I hope that gog.com offers us an option to turn this "feature" on or off in our account settings!

Nope, but it doesn't matter if it doesn't give actual keys. Harder to scam probably? No key reselling at least. Humble would be likely.

This would likely be if you link your account on Humble for example. No key involved. Just redeeming it.

You skipped the important part:

GOG Direct to Account that will enable partnered platforms to activate, directly on your GOG.COM account, content purchased via these selected third party platforms;
So if you don't "purchase" any content on those platform there should be no need for them to "activate" anything on your account.

..
So ..... you mean that I would have to actively link my account to another account of another store - like humble in your example - before they can do anything on my account? Then that would be ok for me since I never will link my gog account to anything but my own PC :-)...

OK, thanks for the clarification, then I am ok with the new feature, it will not be a problem for me :-)!

Relax dude, GOG isn't first one to think this idea up. If it works like most other features that do something similar it won't even work unless you physically sign into your account via a third party website or link your account via a third party website. So assuming you never want to use it, simply don't by never signing in or linking via third party service and nothing will ever come of it.

It's not something that needs an off setting...
