I've already tried reinstalling the app and installing the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 to no avail

You need x86 version, not only x64...


try also to remove and reinstall it

good idea, I had the 2017 version that somehow prevented me from reinstalling the 2015 one, I removed it and reinstalled the 2015 version and now it works
