Dessimu: Important: guys, my grandmother died yesterday. Because of work I can't travel to my country to participate in funeral at this time, so I shall pay my respects at a later time. So, it's somewhat hard. At least I had my chance to say everything I wanted to her last time I saw her.
Dessimu, my condolences.
My reads

Dessimu - Firstly sorry for your loss my friend. I did find your initial Scum jokes suspicious and you didn't analyse your vote choice very much but you have more pressing things to deal with and you were voting on a somewhat established wagon.

Poppy - has had the most heat for allegedly distracting Town by focusing on Mafia numbers. Hinted at 'seeing something' with HSL and then seemingly backed away from it. Flub and I thought she hinted at the Bulletproof role. Others think it was a throwaway comment. Now she's posted that Town shouldn't over analyse because it isn't possible real time and isn't fun. She thinks Lift is playing his Scummy game. But is that townee play? I'm not sure

Lift - I noted in the last game he was more aggressive than when he played town and he's quite aggressive in his Poppy analysis. I noted this early but thought I'd let it play out further. The analysis is all reasonable from Lift and all makes sense. But that was the case when he played Scum. The thing is Lift voted for Poppy before she wrote anything anyone deemed suspicious and his analysis came after the fact. I think this could be a potentially Scummy Lift. Which would probably make Poppy town. If Poppy is Scum, Lift is very unlikely to be. I doubt he'd distance aggressively like this so early.

HSL - has a town feel. Asked reasonable questions and . Supposedly great at faking town according to Poppy.

Trent - has jumped on the Poppy wagon and also read her as scummy.

Flub - confirmed

Dedo - posted but not really analysed much except for noting Poppy's 'distracting'. Posted a couple of posts that were about irrelevancies. So a bit lurky Dedo

Bookwyrm - same as Dedo, little analysis, but thought Poppy was distracting

Joe - another one who's a bit lurky. Voted early and supposedly gone to his farm, which is his reason for being lurky

Gogtrial - Asked questions of others which is a good way to open up while not overcommiting in a laid back style. Seems townee

SPF - not much to go on, seems townee

Hunter - nothing, late to the party with no analysis yet

So lynching Poppy or Lift probably gives us the most information about our fellow players. I'm not sure which to go for just yet. Thoughts? Unvotes Dessimu

supplementscene: I thought 'Is Poppy going to be lynched without revealing what she knows about this?'. Which is of course a concern for us if Poppy is town.
avatar
dedoporno: Did it feel she's on the verge of getting lynched back then?.
She was copping the most heat
avatar
PoppyAppletree: Or, rather, die in it, since at this point I don't think there's anything that's going to convince me that you're not scum.
Anything at all?

avatar
trentonlf: So your town game is strong and we shouldn't consider you as scum unless you make an egregious error?
That's kind of strawman.

avatar
Dessimu: Important: guys, my grandmother died yesterday.
I'm so so sorry to hear that! May she rest in peace.

avatar
supplementscene: She was copping the most heat
OK but would did was it that much to cause concern about being lynched?
avatar
supplementscene: My reads
Funny thing. I did the exact same thing when I was scum, especially in my first game. Reads on absolutely everyone. It's like I am having deja vu right now.

dedoporno: OK but was it that much to cause concern about being lynched?
Fixed that mess ^.

I had a feeling you needed a bump for that :-D
I'm going to be out all day. Had hoped to have a chunk of time now to participate, but real life got in the way. I should be able to catch up tonight; if not, then tomorrow night.

@Dessimu: My condolences. Real life always takes precedence, so don't feel guilty about taking whatever time you need.

@scene I asked you some questions in #75, which you're seemingly ignoring. Let's get your attention and see if that might not get you responding: vote supplementscene
avatar
PoppyAppletree: since at this point I don't think there's anything that's going to convince me that you're not scum.
Yea, how very towny of you... (that was sarcasm). If you are town, that is very bad play. I know I tend to tunnel, but at least I am aware of the possiblity that I could be wrong. But so far you are doing a very bad job at convincing me that you're town. On the contrary, you dig yourself ever deeper in.

But in an effort not to tunnel I'll look at others. In the case of Scene I found his early support for Poppy very interesting. 'She's so helpful' ... really? I didn't notice. In post 107 he creates some more distance to Poppy. But before that it was an interesting observation. Not really alignment inticative, since it can have three reasons: town-scene just seeing something I don't see, scum-scene buddying up to a towny or scum-scene supporting a scum-buddy. Which of these three is real, time will tell.

Dessimu: I'm sorry for your loss! .... Other than that pretty neutral.

Hunter: glad you could join us after all.

Bookwyrm: now here's some lurking. Yes, you've written four posts, but all of them short with very little content. Three of them are just quips about flubb and a short answer about a mechanics question. What's more: your vote is STILL on the one certified town-player. Care to explain why?
avatar
gogtrial34987: ............<snip>..............

Given your early focus here: What are your thoughts on how Poppy's wagon is developing? It seems perhaps somewhat too... easy to me?
..............
Not alarming, but I see your point.

I do think poppy is the lynch for today and here's why.

In post #50 I comment about her quip regarding not dying. SPF comments immediately afterward in post #51 as well as poppy in #52.

poppy's post #55 then asks how many scumz do we have I wonder?? So Scummy. Dessimu then Votes her in post #59.

Supple votes Dessimu in post #60 but hedges with possible change and lists three specific players as possible votes, then eliminates poppy.

Supple Then asks Dessimu why he voted poppy in post #61. Supple asks Dessimu why he's vague and hems haws about poppy in post #63.

The long exchange between lift and poppy in the 60s, 70s, 80s has lift accusing poppy of role fishing, poppy justifying, supple waffling, SPF distancing, lift reiterating vote, poppy OMGUS voting lift , and then......

trentonlf voting poppy, (which she praises as a vote of conviction) in post #96 whut?????

When poppy states in post #88 she has no intention of answering questions because it's a defensive and losing position and we should "deal with it" I'm not seeing town.

Supple's post #97 both questions and defends poppy which is odd.

Her lynch will go a long way to sussing out supple and spf as town or scum

Vote: poppyappletree

So, gamewise, this means I can still play. But my participation for a while will not be as detailed as expected. Lack of content from my side is not an indicator of my alignment. The content itself is. If you feel like I should be lynched or night killed, so it should happen. If everyone is ok with this, I will continue to play as best as I can. If you think it may be a problem, I am comfortable asking for a replacement to keep the game more fluent. Just let me know. [...]
I'm very sorry for your loss. Having lost most of my family, and both my grandmothers at a young age, I can related to what you're going through, and how you're feeling. Hang in there, mate.

I see no reason for you to sub out, quite the contrary, the game might prove a good way not to dwell on things while still going through the mourning process. I'd suggest you wait a while and see if staying in the game helps you, and revisit the matter only if you feel it doesn't.

Dessimu: [...] Back to the game, I can't help but think PoppyAppletree and supplementscene are scum buddies. Poppy is trying to find figure something out way too hard. While supplementcare seems to encourage the train of ideas and stand by side like a lord protector. Seems strange to make friends with a stranger on D1. My vote stays. I will elaborate more on this soon.
I'm looking forward to your future elaboration, as them being caught scum-buddies seems a tad too obvious and easy for D1.

Off to do a proper read from where I left off yesterday.

I’m so sorry to hear that, my condolences for you during this time. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Real life takes prescedence over the game, you do what you need to and don’t worry about the game.

trentonlf: So your town game is strong and we shouldn't consider you as scum unless you make an egregious error?
avatar
dedoporno: That's kind of strawman.
I don’t like the comment she made about her scum game being so weak, it sounds like an excuse to get a free pass for anything she says or does unless it is just blatantly scummy. So I turned her statement back onto her to show her how poor of an excuse it is.
avatar
flubbucket: SPF distancing,
Well this is weird. Distancing from who? The only posts I made around this point were correcting a misunderstanding where people thought I was calling your play bad. Is that what you mean by distancing?
avatar
PoppyAppletree: Oh, and as a follow-up to my previous answer: if it helps, my scum game isn't very strong.
avatar
trentonlf: So your town game is strong and we shouldn't consider you as scum unless you make an egregious error?
I think you and I both know that's not what I said at all. Being a bad scum player doesn't imply being a strong or even good Town player.

avatar
trentonlf: Take Lift out of the picture. Anything else stand out to you about anyone else?
Well, I guess it might be useful to give some reads now, since I might not be sticking around.

gogtrial is currently my strongest Town read. They've been consistently scumhunting and asking appropriate questions. I don't think I've seen anything to make me doubt their Town credentials.

scene has been quite slippery as others note, and I can't help but feel they're reaching hard to come to conclusions that defy any kind of sense. They seem to be beating a dead horse very hard with my quip to flub and the already explained bit about HSL's reluctance to vote. That could just be because they're a newb, but it could equally be because they're scummy. Downthread from this, we've already got Lift suggesting distancing, which is going to muddy my doubt of scene; I'd be more inclined to see Lift and scene being scumbuddies, but I'd need to iso their interactions. I noted a lot of their early posts as having a buddying feel.

Dessimu has been very evasive to questions about their votes. I don't like that. Interested to read what they have to say about scene, since it chimes with my feeling about scene buddying.

I'm generally inclined to view you as Town, much as it harms me in my present situation.

dedo's early posts weren't very helpful, but I'm liking their questions. Town feel.

I've been getting a very unhelpful neutral read from SPF. I feel like he hasn't been putting much effort in.

Bookwyrm has been rather lurky.

HSL is doing his usual needling, but I've seen him do that as either alignment, so I can't read him. Obviously, I hope he's Town.

flub has been trying very hard to cast doubt upon me. I'm curious why that is.

I don't have anything to say about Joe or Hunter.

avatar
flubbucket: When poppy states in post #88 she has no intention of answering questions because it's a defensive and losing position and we should "deal with it" I'm not seeing town.
My god flub, if you weren't confirmed Town I'd think you were scummy as all hell. Could you try actually reading my posts? I won't provide analysis of previous games, full stop. That's it. All other questions are on the table.

Also, if Donald Trump's taught me anything, it's that playing defence is a loser's game. :P If you're faced with a barrage of fabricated or spurious accusations, such as in #70 or #81 respectively, I don't think it does you any good to accept the premise of those accusations since it only weakens your position.

I can see what you were trying to do, but it just reads like an extremely fallacious accusation. I like you trent, try harder.

I agree here, it's good to have something to take your mind off things.

I'd agree with this.

flubbucket: trentonlf voting poppy, (which she praises as a vote of conviction) in post #96 whut?????
It does nothing to help me personally, but trent's rationale for voting for me fits cleanly with his character and leans me towards thinking he's Town.

avatar
flubbucket: Her lynch will go a long way to sussing out supple and spf as town or scum
This is certainly interesting. Where does SPF come into this, flub? The only reason I can see that you would have to place SPF under suspicion is that he's been critical of you, which isn't a good reason at all, especially when you're confirmed Town. What do you have to lose from people doubting you?

*-*-*

This post was a bit jumbled since I just woke up and read what had been said. A lot of the current discussion connects to me, so it's going to be difficult to comment on things without it being read as distancing or OMGUS or anything like that. Regardless of my personal wishes, I am very much now put on the defensive with four votes to me name. It's going to be pretty difficult to dig myself out of that one. It doesn't help Town to give up, though, so I'm going to take a breather, then come back later on and see what I can pick out.

If I don't make it to Day 2, though, it wouldn't be atypical for me - I burn hot and then tend to get snuffed out, either by a lynch or a nightkill. That tends to push me to make my contribution in Day 1 rather than pull back, which could be the better strategy. I found scene's comment about gogtrial not "overcommitting" kind of funny, since overcommitting is definitely what I do.

PoppyAppletree: I'd be more inclined to see Lift and scene being scumbuddies, but I'd need to iso their interactions. I noted a lot of their early posts as having a buddying feel.
Just a quick note about this: I'm talking here about scene's posts having a buddying feel, not that I detected buddying between Lift and scene. As stated, I need to iso their interactions.
