PoppyAppletree: Yes, this. Criticism is not censorship, and criticising things doesn't mean that the people who are criticising something don't also appreciate that thing in other ways. I have plenty of criticisms of Banjo-Kazooie (like the terrible decision to use flat 2D objects in a 3D game), but I also think it's a great game. There's absolutely no reason why I can't criticise other games for other reasons, and the idea that having such criticisms means I don't play game is ridiculous.
It's a little over simplification; criticism is not censorship per se...but depending on how said criticism is done it can definitely be a call for censorship or at least result in for self censorship.

If you criticize that you don't like the game play, or don't like a character, don't like part of the story, that's one thing, but when your critics starts using more and more loaded words or sentence like "sexists", "extremely toxic", "racist", when you start accusing the devs of games including those "problematic things" of being responsible for perpetuating "rape culture", "systemic racism" or whatever etc... it is no longer just an innocent criticism but it become a push to have those things being removed or at least "shamed" until devs stops using them on their own.

IMHO It's more insidious than an outright call for censorship and can potentially be a lot more damaging in the long run.

I am really sad that you think that censorship and banning games in the name of "social justice" is a good thing and noone should be against it. (

But does that mean that you don't want games to use 2D objects in a 3D games or not?

richlind33: Should the image that triggered DEFCON 1 be verboten?

tremere110: I don't care that GoG apologized for the image and took it down. I could care less about what VG24/7 wrote. What matters is that GoG decided to call some of its customers "abusive" and "part of a hate movement". Will it stop me from shopping here? Nope, I'm a huge DRM-Free advocate and this is pretty much the only viable game in town.
Thing is, cucks aren't well-known for pushing the envelope. Or holding the line.

What's a cuck in your opinion?

Sub, as in subordinant.

Doesn't "sub" stand for submissive in BDSM terminology?
A cuck originally is someone iirc who likes to watch other men have intercourse with his wife.
Of course I know alt-righters use it for mainstream conservatives.

Depends on how you're using it. Why, are you getting triggered? o.O

No, I was just wondering where you're coming from politically.
I don't get triggered that easily.

OK.

I don't much like *any* of the people who think gamergate is anything more than an indication of how incredibly fucked politics is in this world. I detest partisans, left *and* right.

tbh I've never quite gotten what Gamergate is about. It seems kind of silly to get worked up like that over gaming issues when so much serious stuff is happening in the world.
Granted, I'm somewhat out of the loop regarding gaming anyway, since few new games run on my laptop.

I think you're making that up.
"Cuck" is a right-wing term.

I guess that would be self-disparagement in the case of someone like Beambard, who listed SJW in her Beamdog bio. o.O

In a political sense it definitely is a (far) right-wing term.
Originally it comes from porn, and there's often an interracial angle, that is a white man watching his wife being f**ked by black men. That's why white nationalists and other right-wingers transferred it to the political realm, it's a reference to what they see as racial dispossession, which mainstream conservatives don't fight against.

Not in the states. It's a trendy "guy" term, sometimes used by black women in reference to repubs.
