I'd be extremely angry if GOG suddenly closed down and I didn't get the chance to download all files I need. I've already backed up most of the installers for games I want to keep, but still, I would feel cheated.
As for your other questions:
1.) Probably nowhere, it might well be the end of my interest in gaming in the sense of getting new games.
2.) Probably nowhere gaming-related, though I might try to find a site where I can troll people.
1) Well, there is always Steam but...
2) ...its community... Let's just say it's a bit different than the one here ;)

Apart from that I guess I'd be happy with offline installers. I like to replay games so I think it would be enough for my whole lifetime. And if I didn't download them? I don't even want to think about that xD
I can imagine a lot of people would be steaming, but not many would be Steaming.
I doubt GOG would go anywhere overnight. Even smaller stores (Desura, DotEmu, IndieGameStand, ShinyLoot) gave plenty of time to download the games before they shut down. But I'll entertain your scenarios. If GOG suddenly shut down, I would be backed up and ready to go. But if I didn't download everything and something happened to my backup HDs? I'd curse my bad luck, hope nothing happened to my physical stuff and start over/continue from there.

Now, for your questions:

1) I would have Humble, other Steam third-party resellers, Switch and even hunt retro stuff on eBay/Amazon/some local store that GOG would never be able to release thanks to unprofitable licensing deals.
2) Probably to some other gaming forum.

1. Back to "piracy". Said ever since they gave up on the no regional pricing (or locks) principle, especially since that happened for games older than that initial 3 year minimum age limit (from back when it was Good Old Games) as well, that I'm also giving up on mine of not "pirating" anything available on GOG and waiting longer to see if something I'd somehow really want will eventually show up here after all. If there will be something I'll REALLY want to play that won't be available here with no regions paying more than base price or perhaps in a giveaway I'd win (with the code already purchased, not purchased on my request), I'll definitely do that whether GOG is still around or not, considering how it changed. But have enough games to not see it happen for quite some years to come.
2. Gaming community? May give the... other forum another shot, but probably nowhere. Mainly here out of habit and nostalgia even now, and to follow a handful of threads and maybe for a couple of people out of those still around. Lose the continuity and doubt I'll look for a replacement.

DotEmu didn't email all their customers, mind.

I know. I received an e-mail after they shut down their online store. Thankfully, I was warned by others who did receive an e-mail months ago.

Fairfox: where wud you gravitate if gogie as a site, service, platform, forum etcetc sudden lee died xtreme in teh face

imma tAALKin' 2 diff'rent versions of question, tbh:
1) where wud you go gamie-wise
2 where wud you go communitea-wise

if you even wud for part 2, obvs. it all ties in
...if you even wud for part 1 as well come to think of it. i mean it might verrr apply to me so mebbe others?

also!
wud you be sanguine if you didnt download all titles (or had old versions), extras etcetc or be uuuh... liek i guesses vexxed then?
is it part 'n' parcel ie teh nature o' this drm-free existence involve risk (near lee liek stranger danger just no kids for main)
Since GOG has a comparatively poor selection when it comes to the bigger games, I tend to make fairly few purchases here. Sure if a game I want is in stock, I'd buy it on GOG first, but that doesn't happen too often. So most my purchases are over at the Humble Store, which, of course, means that they are Steam games. And yesterday I bought a game over at Green Man Gaming, which, once again, is a Steam exclusive.

All that said, game-wise not much would change. Most my gaming time is spent between Steam and Blizzard, so GOG's sudden demise would be sad but ultimately inconsequential so far as my gaming habits go.

Community-wise... meh. The people I actually like, I'd stay in contact with, the rest I would consider a very minor loss. More of a gain, really.
