I'm usually not all that discriminating when it comes to voice-acting and in general I don't like to change anything like this, but in Battlechef Brigade I had to turn off the voices, since I found them to be a bad fit for the characters and distracting from the quirky anime style of the game. They made listening to dialogues really boring.

I don't really get when people complain that indie games have no voice-acting. If it's of the quality mentioned above (which isn't that unlikely when you're on a budget), I think the games are more immersive without it.

I can't think of any god games with poor audio. granted Populous may not have aged that well, but I still like the sounds. Reprisal maybe? I did not think much any aspects of it.
Interestingly, audio/music is usually one of the things that games get right. I can think of a lot more bad games with good soundtracks than the other way around.
I think its more common to see games with bad voice acting then bad music

Earth 2150 has some pretty bad english voice acting, but the game itself is great.
I've got one, Contra III: The Alien Wars on SNES.

The gun sounds effects went from sounding like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXcVojj2GXk

To sounding a bit weaker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoQBfWT4v28

That always bothered me.

Edit: Wow gog linking is busted.

The last crop of Medal of Honour WW2 games had awful audio. All the weapons sounded like they were airsoft guns ;(

Do you (or anyone) know shooters which actually use audio of real guns firing for each weapon (so an AK74 actually has the same sound as the real-life one)?

Ah, hmm, can't recall the title but I remember reading about at least one game where the actual correct firearms were used to capture the audio.

The pistols in Stranglehold sounded like a woodpecker trying to poke a hole into a styrofoam board.

I can't really provide an example, as all games I played had pretty good sound overall (if you don't count some ATROCIOUS dubbing, like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LISmPmdUhYA ).

I can say this though: there should be a standard in volume. Sometimes I can barely hear with sound cranked to max, then I start another game and my ears get destroyed.

Fairfox: i hate 'rock' audio osts
usual lee meant to be in uuuh 'kick-ass' pump-adrenaline gamies
That reminds me, when I first played Painkiller, probably contrary to most I found the Heavy Metal soundtrack off-putting and tried to replace it with a more atmospheric, dark fantasy soundtrack. I guess I just wasn't prepared for what kind of game it is and was hoping for something more immersive. If I'd play it again, I'd just accept it like it is, but I probably won't, since I don't find the gameplay that interesting.

(That being said, I don't mind Rock and Heavy Metal in general though, I loved it in Brütal Legend where it was a perfect fit.)
The god-awful voice acting of Unreal 1 : Return to Na Pali

I mute my speakers each time instead of having to listen to it.

Gabriel Angelos' voice in Dow3 also comes to mind, especially when compared to his glorious voice in Dow1 and 2.

And I think the SNES version of Lion King had weird non-film music. It just sounded wrong compared to the sega and dos versions.
