Would gog consider doing any of the Amiga 500 games? I've been looking for a decent version of Hybris, but none are all that compatible :( And I don't want to revert to emulators.

The game was only released on the Amiga, so even if GOG manages to sell it (which is highly unlikely) they'll still use an emulator. It would be no different than the old Dos games running DOSBox.

They run emulators? I thought they digitally refurbished the games. I think Gog is pushing a hard market, but there is no platform like this that is a compendium for all past games, gog is the closest thing. In any case, if its there for cheap people will buy it. The amiga games have massive nostalgia for some people. That's really what Gog are selling other than the 'own your own game' thing.
How I would love to play some Amiga classics once again. Turrican II will always have a fond place in my heart.
As long as they release it with its soundtrack as a bonus...

Ha, when I read the thread title I remembered a game named Hybris, but I thought it`s another thread about that unoriginal storefront again.
But I was wrong, it`s about the shmup!

They should better bring Imperium, the grandfather of games like MoO and GalCiv.

I doubt that. The Turrican soundtrack is quite expensive and was released several times in different editions. Original songs recorded from the game, songs remade with modern synthesizers, orchestral version, ...

I'm happy that I own the CD version of the first soundtrack release with a signed cover. :-)

Most of the DOS games on the site are packaged with DOSBox. Supposedly when GOG was originally being formed, the creators preferred to sell Amiga games but there were too many headaches involved (I'm guessing it's in part because of needing to license the kickstart roms) so they moved on to DOS/Windows-based games.
I just read on Wikipedia, that the developers of Hybris are actually porting the game to Android and IOS.
Amiga games on GOG would be awesome! I, for one, would like Apidya here!

Sadly, however, that's not very likely. The legal circumstances are difficult for most Amiga games, since emulation of those games also requires a Kickstart ROM, the rights of which aren't with the games IP-holder. If the latter can even be determined nowadays.

GOG doesn't "do" any games; they sell games made by other people. The most they can do is sometimes tweak existing games to run better on modern systems. Creating a game from scratch is right out, which is what you're asking for if you don't want to use an emulator.

OK. Let me revise my statement: more Amiga games on GOG would be awesome. ... the rest of the statement stays true. The legal situation is often difficult.
Yeah Hybris certainly had very nice music, it was always one of my favorite Amiga game soundtracks. And the game was a joy to look at too, colorful and smoothly scrolling graphics.

I am fine playing it emulated (on WinUAE), though. Or merely listening to it. As a matter of fact, watching it in Youtube is good enough for me nowadays.

I actually thought it might be about a sequel to Jydge because of the "u" replaced with "y" :D
