Wikipedia defines adware as "Adware... is any software package that automatically renders advertisements in order to generate revenue for its author".
If you go to the store page on galaxy you will see many ads (e.g. for Dying Light, Uprising, Day of the Tentacle Remastered, etc.), which will generate revenue for GOG.
Not that I see anything wrong with it.
It doesn't insert random ads into other programs, it doesn't pull the highlighted key term trick to show you ads when you mouse over the highlighted words.
Also, you can turn off Galaxy completely whereas actual ad-ware does not allow you to do so.
