I installed my copy of Lego Racers 2 and I had a no CD patch for it on my old laptop and it ran just fine. However, since upgrading to an AMD Ryzen 5 machine with Geforce RTX 2060 GPU, none of the pre-rendered FMV cutscnes play at all when I load the game and it skips straight to the main menu.

Travelling to the other worlds in-game has the same problem as that zone's intro won't play and it just loads the hub area after the in-engine cutscenes.

The videos are all MPEG format but I have an MPEG 2 codec, plus the videos work in Windows Media Player or VLC, but not in the game itself! What the hell?

Abandonware copies using the updated installer and reinstalling with the original installer in compatibility mode for Windows XP (service pack 2) did nothing.

How do I fix this? I want to play the game again and I can't properly when it has this bug.

It may be too late for darkredshift, but in case someone else in the future is sent here by the search engines like I was, I want to leave a message here that I fixed this problem by installing K-Lite Codec Pack Mega: https://codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_mega.htm
