GOG.com: [...] coming from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, also known as the DACH region [...]
It's the first time I hear the DACH acronym. Where does this acronym come from? Is it used to promote German-speaking countries?
Also, great games offered of course.
D-A-CH or DACH is an acronym used to represent the dominant states of the German language Sprachraum. It is based on the international vehicle registration codes for:
• Germany (D for Deutschland)
• Austria (A for Austria, in German "Österreich")
• Switzerland (CH for Confoederatio Helvetica, in German "(die) Schweiz")
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geographical_distribution_of_German_speakers#German-speaking_Europe
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/D-A-CH
Thanks a lot. I could have found the answer by myself with a little more research... Sorry for that.
A bit far-fetched that sale's title... the acronym isn't that uncommon, but... a lot of the games aren't made by devs from the DACH region. Like Pumpkin Jack (french), Medieval/Wild-West Dynasty (polish), Edge of Sanity (polish), and several others. But well... some nice offers.

GOG's descriptions (and titles) for these "from a certain country or linguistic region" promos generally don't make it clear, but they pretty much all seem to focus on games either developed by studios -- or sold by publishers -- that are based in, or were at least founded in, the region or country in question.
// Regarding the "Made in <country>" label origin; guess it's not widely known and its fate is curious

(yet another example of smth that produced the opposite effect in medium..long run)

... while others aren't included which definitely are, like: the Anno series (Max Design (Austria) / Related Designs (Germany) ); the Settlers Series (Blue Byte (Germany) / Funatics (Germany) ). You can't always take these promo's at their words, I guess... :'-|

Anno is french since 2007, that's when Ubisoft bought the franchise. I know that it's still developed in germany, but financed by the fenchies.

I know... Ubisoft bought the Anno franchise as well as the Settlers franchise... doesn't change the fact that the dev's are/were DACH. ;-)

Doesn't make it anymore MADE in DACH (as the sale states), and is why I only said "farfetched". ;)
