I have lived in this house for over 40 years and never had this problem..

But last summer I lost nearly everything I owned and was down to 2 laptops due to flooding (before this I had at least 4 working desktops).

I bought the parts for an AWESOME new desktop but shit happened and with my inability to build it myself the parts are just sitting there. Was just beginning to "redo" my place and received a new laptop to make it 3 when IT HAPPENS AGAIN. All 3 laptops had their power/recharger things plugged in and sitting on the floor. And guess what? You could have a $7,000.00 laptop with all the best hardware stuffed in their but without the power/charger "black blocks" they won't work. Oh sure you use it till your battery runs down but then you're done. Oh, and one of my monitors had that same black power adapter kind of thing and it's now worhless since searching every site I know resulted in me not finding a replacement part.

I'm now down to this GPDWIN. And with this tiny keyboard and my fat and arthritic fingers this ain't no fun.

I just can't believe it. Hoping a little giveaway will take my mind off this and the thought of no computer for at least a week as I await replacement parts. Funny how if I bought a whole new laptop it would be here in two days.. guaranteed but just buying the parts is 10 to 20 days. I'm already having some serious Fallout 4 withdrawal.

If someone would like a code for Shadowrun Returns then be the first to post the winning pitcher's name of Game 3 of the 1924 World Series AND the losing pitcher's name of Game 4 of the 1968 World Series AND the losing pitcher's name of Game 7 of the 2017 World Series.

'Official' nicknames are acceptable for first names. For example Three Finger Brown or Mordicai (spelling???) Brown would suffice.

Damn I'm depressed. Can't help but wonder whether this is a signal that it's time for me to go. I mean what are the odds. Doesn't happen for over 40 years then twice within a few months. So frustrating. Especially with all the parts for an awesome rig just sitting there. Cheer me up and go to the trouble of answering this trivia even though you just buy it for 3 bucks.
Not in, but sorry to hear of your bad experiences. Sounds like you still have the parts for a great desktop though? Hope you can get that running and back up to speed soon!

So, what is the current status of your awesome desktop?

And how are you going to get it built?

Do you live near me?

I was going to say not in due to laziness, but you clearly wanted people to answer this, so here's my attempt:

Hugh McQuillan, Denny McLain and Yu Darvish
How much would the replace brick cost?

correct.... incoming...
Anyone know how to get rid of the purple dot when it's there in error? I tried an account refresh.

It shows up next to forum replies (and I did have 2 responses when I arrived here) but cleared them down below but the dot remains.

It's kinda annoying, because for some reason if you see the reply without going into the "forum reply" page, the purple notification will stay even though the relevant post will no longer be featured at the top. The only solution is to go into the forum reply page, and open the post you know you got a reply in. It will make the notification thingie go away.

What are the parts and what was your most difficult problem with them?

Building a PC is not that hard as you may think - it's like a little more advanced Lego bricks.
Sorry to hear. Good gaming PCs dying just like that really makes me mad. Isn't there any decency left in this world?

Yeah, and he should put it on some kind of floating device so that it is safe from damn floods!
