Hi,
I'm currently taking a university course on the subject Human-Computer Interaction. As part of an assignment, I'm to gather data about how people get game recommendations today, and how successful they are as well as any thoughts about what could be improved.

I have set up an online survey that takes 10 minutes at the most to complete. I would be extremely grateful for any participants for this.

You'll find the survey here: https://s.surveyplanet.com/7trf3kdj

The survey will be open until Tuesday next week.

Thanks in advance. :)

Done.
Though, with some questions, I would've liked to have a "straight down the middle" answer as choosable option.

In those cases, you only gave four presets as possible answers, with two on the positive and two on the negative side of the spectrum.

But my most accurate answer would have been a "neither-nor" (like I said: straight down the middle).

The way it is done, I was "forced" (*) to choose an answer, which I wouldn't have chosen if there would have been a neutral option available.

(*) "Forced" in the sense of: I had to choose something, because the survey would not have proceeded otherwise.

Nope, you're wrong, you can leave a question blank and hit next and it will proceed to the next question.
Done.
Okay, done.

Though, I admit I'm probably outside the norm as I tend to never buy new games.
I participated too. Maybe you could share your findings here, after you are done. Thanks!

Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it and agree. I will revise the options for any later surveys in this project. :)

Not sure if by 'new' you mean newly produced games. If so, that wasn't the intention. I used the word 'new' as in 'new to you, or in your collection'

I have already taken some notes about re-phrasing some of the questions and I will make a note of this as well.

I've already made notes about another problem with my wording. Looking through some of the answers so far, I get a strong suspicion that some respondents answer questions about recommendations thinking only about AI-generated recommendations. But all recommendations should be considered really.

But that's part of this course, learning by doing.

I will do that. But as this will be an extremely small study, one should be careful with drawing any conclusions from it.
But some answers so far has been interesting in some ways. I'll know more when I analyze the results.

Thank you. Good to know it wasn't boring or tiresome.

Big Thanks!

Well, it seems I have only you Goggers to rely on for this survey. I posted this on Steam forums as well, but it seems their admin bot removed it citing suspected advertising. And of course no way to appeal to a human being.

Ah, well. That's a shame. I suspect Steam's personalised recommendations are of a different caliber to GOG's, which are mind-bogglingly useless.

You could also try specific gaming subs and channels on reddit and/or Discord.

Yeah, I had Reddit in mind as backup but now I have already reached my target so will be closing down the survey tomorrow.

Yes they are. But personally, I think Steam's recommendations are bad, even though Gog's are worse.

Of course, the pool you draw the data from will most likely also influence the results, since GOG users are a special kind.
