UPDATE:

"David Katz, a 24-year-old gamer from Baltimore, Maryland, was in Jacksonville for the tournament at GLHF Game Bar [...] On Sunday, he brought a gun into the venue and opened fire, killing two people. Then he turned the gun on himself, Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams said. [...] Nine other people suffered gunshot wounds and two people were injured fleeing the area, Williams said. The victims were all in stable condition at local hospitals, the sheriff said."
Victims are 22-year-old Eli "TrueBoy" Clayton and 27-year-old Taylor "SpotMePlzzz" Robertston.
"Jacksonville sheriff Mike Williams confirmed that the shooter had two handguns with him during the attack, both legally purchased within the past month. Williams also stated that the shooter had a "previous relationship" with his victims, presumably through prior esports competitions, and that he bypassed other patrons in order to specifically target the Madden tournament participants."

Electronic Arts have posted a couple of tweets about the tragedy in their official account:

Very sad :(

Haven't seen anything explaining a motive... not that anything can justify taking 4 lives and injuring many others at a gaming tournament.

It's rumored that competitor "went crazy" when they lost, if this could be ever called a motive.

That sounds completely insane.

CNN has been playing audio that was recorded when the shooting started. I've listened to it once, and that was enough.

Yes, there was a live streaming of the tournament on Twitch. And you are completely right.

There just seems to be too much agression in the world at the moment. Maybe it's always been there and social media is just exposing it more and more. And I'm not talking about nations wanting to make war on each other, but normal people living ordinary lives. Here in South Africa road rage is a big thing. And we all do it, like it's somehow ingrained into us to annoy each other when driving in traffic.
How does one learn to find it ok to fucking shoot people over a lost game. Incredible.
Those kids just wanted to play madden, instead they witnessed one of the worst things you can witness. Or they straight up died.
Their parents were also probably in the audience too. How god damned terrible.
At least the loser took himself with them.

We should NOT flaunt the shooter's name and give him any media presence. Some blaze of glory bull shit.

And why on earth would someone feel it necessary to bring a gun to a gaming tournament. Unless I heard incorrectly, one witness said the killer had a laser-sight.

Edit: spelling.

Fairfox: is it naht accurate?
Whether or not it's accurate, is it relevant? If he was a gay Hispanic transgender male, would that change that people died and others were horribly injured and traumatized? Would it make those dead people less dead? Your message serves nothing but trying to make a political statement out of a tragedy.
how can you enter an event like this with a gun in the first place

If the shooter was black and someone posted "a black loser, what a surprise", you'd be screaming racism.
