I do not think this is because of the game itself and there was nothing on that forum related to it but it's Dragon Age Origins.

So the play button will grey out and I can't do anything with it. I open the file location and the game exe file will not launch. I'll run the verify/repair and 20 minutes later it freezes on 90% and I need to reboot my PC. I have waited it out before for over an hour, the reboot is required. Then it will re-scan again for about 5 minutes and then finish incredibly fast. I launch the game, close it, reboot my PC again, start playing the game. I just closed the game because it was lagging due to a known memory leak. Then the button was grey immediately and I cannot play the game yet again.

The thing is I've had to do the verify/repair thing 5 times in the past 7 days now and it's a lengthy process to get back in. I got the GOG version to avoid the issues Steam users had. Of which, I also uninstalled it from Steam several errors ago. What is even happening and what can I do to make it not break every couple of sessions?

Throw Galaxy in the trash and try running the game locally. Bonus points if you've got a terminal pointed at it to catch debug output.
