Jullian Gollop, one of the makers of the original X:COM games UFO: Enemy Unknown and X:COM The Apocalypse has posted a teaser for a new game, that will be 'turn-based tactical combat and world-based strategy'.

There's not much info, just a and the teaser page on [url=http://www.phoenixpoint.info/]phoenixpoint.info/.

Too bad those original two games aren't on GOG though, we just got the spin-off UFO games and the new Indie Xenonauts.
Have a nice read about what Phoenix Point is all about, at this stage anyhow. Sounds like Gollop is in the process of shopping around for a publisher. I'd be very surprised if it didn't get picked up by one.

As for the game itself, it sounds rather ambitious. Let's see if he can pull it off. I definitely like the sound of it being an evolution of the formula rather than X-COM 2.0.

Phoenix Point new features sounds nice (randomly generated maps, targeting body parts when shooting like in Fallout).
I heard that release date is set to late 2018.
I do not like latest XCOM games due to too much flashy colors and pokemon look like aliens.
I tried all known similar games, and in my opinion the best current spiritual successor to classic X-Com is UFO Extraterrestrials Gold (not available on GOG).
I know some will disagree, but I felt Chaos Reborn was really great. I'm still playing a lot of it and I'm happy to see Snapshot games is moving forward with another interesting project.
Thanks for the heads up! Now to promptly forget about it so I'm all sorts of surprised in a few years when it comes out, without having to endure the wait in between! ;)
Project went live on fig:

You do realize GOG is listed as "supported platform" on Phoenix Point's fig page.
This looks like a mix between XCom, Gorky 17 and Quake 2/4. :)

Edit: And Fallout 3/nv with its vats. :)

Phoenix Point - Backer Build One Gameplay

Probably a good time to slacker-back/pre-order if you haven't already and wouldn't mind getting your hands on the backer build yourself.
Delivery

Backer Build One is available to anyone who backed Phoenix Point during the Fig campaign at the "Digital Extras Edition" or higher. It is also available to customers who pre-ordered the "Luxury Digital Edition" or higher. The Backer Build may be listed in your package as "early access" or "pre-alpha access".

Game seems promising and i'm really looking forward to it coming here when it's finished, hopefully Snapshot adds a bit complexity and depth through their new systems compared to modern XCOM which is not bad by any means but for someone who spent an absurd amount of time in classic XCOM like Ufo Defense it doesn't quite scratch that itch.
Never heard of it until now. Looks promising!
Btw, a new trailer is out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Il6GoZR1IIk
Hope this comes out on GOG. Julian Gollop is a legend.
