Hey there! I'm looking for name of a game that I played around 1998-2000 I don't know if this game was new then, I played it on my fathers work computer. So the game was 2D shooter-platformer, I remember that you could throw glowing balls at enemy soldiers and they would follow you in a orderly line, also when someone followed you, you could swap with him and use his weapon (I remember my father saying that they were balls of sugar but I''m not sure if he was serious), also you could enter some vehicles i remember there was a tank and a robot that jumped really high. Also i remember that one of the bosses was giant robot gold fish with guns, and other boss i think was giant beaver robot with guns? I have no idea how this game was called because i think i couldn't read very well yet when i first played it. If anyone knows anything please help me ! I really want to learn how the first game i literally ever played is called!
Thank you in advance!

Top view, isometric, or side view?

2D shooter-platformer
I would guess side-scrolling. Doesn't ring a bell though.

It was side view.
Those bosses description would suggest something from Megaman X series (Megan X, X3 and X4, to be more specific, those were released on PC before 2000), is it any of those?

Interestingly, the videogames section of tvtropes' "mind control device" mentions a Megaman game, BUT it seems to be a more recent iteration, BUT the tvtropes list is far from exhaustive. So, I wouldn't be too surprised if it was part of the series.

Found it!

(Nah, just kidding - while I have the feeling, I remember such a boss, I can't remember the actual game - sorry)

You don't collect followers in-stage in any of X1-X6, so it isn't any of those. I don't know about the rest of the X or Zero series, but collecting followers makes me think it probably isn't them.

I admit I was expecting something less fun and quirky.
What IS this ? It's like a squad based sidescroller or something, but then you have a robot ? I keep watching the video, but don't really understand what is going on.
