APE OUT is now available DRM-free.

These bars can't hold an angry primate like you back! Make your escape through procedurally generated rooms by using your hapless captors against each other or as knuckle grease. A unashamedly violent, deliriously frantic extravaganza set to jazzy beats and a canvas of exploding colors.
Wow that music in the trailer is unbearable! :D
Sorry,but where do I start
low rated
Ouch, my eyes! I`m going blind!
This looks bad, really, really bad!
This is EGA-Graphics with 16 colors. So..why DX 11?

Yeah, Devolver Digital games are fantastic, but most developers haven't been very careful to keep their games up to date on GOG, not to mention that only a very small percentage care about adding the achievements.
I'd like that to change.

I agree, I really enjoy GOG but the lack of Achievements and support makes it really hard to buy games on here sometimes.
I like both the music and the graphics of this game. The screenshots shown almost look like paintings. The person who did this has an incredible sense of composition and colour harmony imo, almost like a suprematistic painting from the age of the sovjets. It reminds me a bit of Kazimir Malevich's work.
The only thing I don't like about this game is the game play, which is unfortunate, since this *is* a game.

Wishmaster777: Nopeware quality right here.
Gonna have to add nopeware to my lexicon.

I especially like the part where the trailer doesn't even show a single moment of gameplay, bodes well.

Thanks again for the quality curation GOG.
"Ape Out is a wildly intense and colorfully stylized smash ‘em up about primal escape, rhythmic violence, and frenetic jazz"

I love eclecticism and mixing things, but... what the hell did I just watch... or hear?!? The graphics are worse than Pyrotechnica (1995) and that game is still beautiful.

Absolutely, the game must be a master piece when the trailer doesn't show any gameplay.

Cyberdogs/C-Dogs is miles better even if the game is now over 25 years old and is free.

EDIT: Ok, seriously, I give up - I would rather have Grimoire here than this :P

The particular choice of music and how Ape Out's structured into 'tracks', 'sides' and ultimately into 'records' of the "hard" or "soft" variety suggests that the dev's just really into classic 50s/60s Jazz and the distinct album cover aesthetic of that era.

And just like Jazz (combined with grainy, minimalist visuals) is not for everyone, Ape Out is an acquired taste as well.

How is the gameplay depth? Jazz is musically very deep. I am not quite sure how to read this game though.

Only finished the first 'record' so far, but I doubt that the core gameplay loop is going to deviate in any fundamental way, shape or form going forward. The main goal very likely will always be to break out of some sort of confinement and get the orange simian protagonist to safety, by overcoming the armed human opposition.

Think "Responsible" instead of "Freddie Freeloader".
